Happy Wednesday! I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for this week to be over! Then it’ll be Thanksgiving (for us Americans) and I get a much-needed four-day weekend! I can push through one more week! ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
💭Do you have a favorite book quote? I know, it’s hard to pick just one because I have about a million favorites. I recently got the @flickthewick Illuminae Files box and LOVED it. The Illuminae Files quickly became some of my favorite books of all time and fell in love with the characters and the plot and uniqueness of the books themselves. Also this candle smells wonderful and the label is beautiful. ——-
One of my favorite quotes from the trilogy (and there are sooo many) is “Am I not merciful?” because it honestly gave me the chills. Aidan is such an interesting character in the book, one you couldn’t tell was good and trying to help or evil and was trying to destroy everything. ——-
#thefamilyyouchoosebwg : brother from another mother - the guy you’d want to have your back. If you’re on Aidan’s good side, he’ll protect you no mater what.
#strangestarsandskies : time travel sci fi.
💭What have you been reading this month? —-
Here is my haphazardly put together November TBR. I’ve already read Tower of Dawn, so now I can finally get to the mammoth Kingdom of Ash! Almost a thousand pages is just bonkers! I did forget two books that should be mentioned - right now I’m reading Carry On by Rainbow Rowell and loving it! And I’m also going to be reading Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell for a book club I am a part of! We will see what I can get done around KOA! ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
I wanted to attempt to get caught up in tags! I am soooo behind!! @willowreads13 tagged me in the #GuiltyBooksTag about a millennia ago! Thank you! Sorry it’s taken me so long! 🖤 How many unread (physical) books do you own? Oh god.. so I lost count but it’s over 100. 🖤 How many books are in your TBR? Hundreds? I have so many books I want to read. And then reread. It’s a struggle. 🖤 How long has the oldest book on your TBR been there? I honestly don’t know. I have some books that I’ve been wanting to read for over a decade. Have I read them? Nope. 🖤 What’s your bookish crime? Clearly buying books and then never reading them! Ugh. I should go on a book buying ban. Again. Didn’t stick the last time. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Hello all! Long time no see! 🍁😊❤️🍁
I have been gone from Instagram for what feels like forever! I have missed this community, but life has gotten in the way. Fall is one of my busiest times at work and I have been majorly overwhelmed with life stuff too, so sadly something had to give. That happened to be reading, blogging and all things books. And it was a total bummer. But now (hopefully) I’m back and in the swing of things! ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
I know you’re thinking - wait, it’s the middle of November and posting an October wrap up? Yeah I know.. a bit late! But better late than never right? October started out so well, and then it went downhill quickly. I was lucky to finish two books! Sadie by Courtney Summers was amazing, and Empire of Storms by SJM blew me away. So the two books I read were really good!! 💭 What books did you read in October? Also can we talk about how cute this calendar turned out?? ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
“Never let anyone make you feel ordinary.” - The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Taylor Jenkins Reid. ❤️
Happy Sunday all! What are your plans for the day? I wish I could spend it wrapped up in a comfy blanket with Empire of Storms, but sadly I have many things to do today. Lots of cleaning, organizing, putting together some furniture, etc and etc. —-
I read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by @tjenkinsreid because I saw so many talk about it. I wanted to see if the hype was true. To me, it 100 percent was. I enjoyed this story so much, the representation and diversity in it, the wonderful storyline of a Hollywood actress recounting her life trying to make it and the many not-so-great things she did to get there. 10/10! I definitely want to read more by Taylor Jenkins Reid! ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Today, October 10, is World Mental Health Day. 💙 I, like many many others, deal with different mental health issues and today is a day to bring awareness to the mental health challenges we all face every day. It’s something we should talk about every day, but today we can all come together to discuss the things we go through and realize you’re not alone. ————-
I think mental illness is becoming more prevalent in fiction, and I believe it’s something we need to see more and more so the people who do deal with these kinds of issues can find someone like them in a book they read. I think we all should be able to find a character we relate to in some sort of way.
I’ll talk a little of my mental health story. I seem like a pretty laid back person. I don’t let a lot get to me, I don’t stay angry at people and I let a lot just roll off of me. But in my mind I’m constantly overthinking, constantly worrying about things that can and will go wrong. Anxiety is not fun. I also deal with what is colloquially called high functioning depression. Like I said, on the outside I’m pretty mellow, laid back. But you can’t tell what people are going through from the outside. There are days I struggle to get out of bed, to get off the couch, to shower, do the dishes, go to work, really anything because I just can’t muster the energy to do so. Sometimes it’s like you’re playing the role of yourself in your own life, and you’re watching it from the outside. It’s exhausting. I’m not saying these things to make you feel sorry for me, it’s something I deal with, but I just wanted to let know that if you’re feeling these things too, you’re not alone. And it’s okay to not feel okay. 💙
