This is an excerpt from my intro to Script Lettering booklet I created for workshops. I created it to illustrate the loose process I use in creating script lettering.
1. Rough thumbnails, the more the better.
2. Brush Pen / Lettering Brush + Ink layout.
3. Using tracing paper to refine and craft letters and composition.
4. Finally vector and tweak.
Swipe for the original brush script sketch. Ideally when digitizing script I try to keep as much of the humanistic details of the original sketch whilst tightening up aspects and elements that don’t necessarily balance effectively.
