For the first time ever I decided to do my mass mealprep without designating days. I find that sometimes I'm just not in the mood for the combination I've prepped 4 days ago. Mental block, to be sure, but I also want to make sure eating is enjoyable. .

Instead of breaking everything down into days, I put every food item in its own container. A whole tupperware of sausage links. One of diced chicken. One of meatballs. I've got my veggies choped and diced, and my fruit portioned (yes, I enjoy fruit enough to make it happen). .

It already feels so much better. Having freedom with food is a wonderful experience. .

Getting in a proper stretch before you work out will allow you to dig deeper into each move, reaping more rewards with each set you complete. Stretching upon completion helps battle muscle fatigue and stress while resetting your body for the day ahead.

By adding a good stretch into your daily, or even every other day, routine you  will not only improve your flexibility but will protect you from avoidable injuries on the inside.

The MOST important part of a stretch is to make sure it is done correctly. You won't find yourself reaping many benefits if you cheat yourself on the stretch. .

This is a very basic extended leg stretch. To get the most out of this stretch: .
.
1. Make sure your foot is fully flexed. This means to make sure your foot is at a 90簞 angle with your leg before you start the extension. Maintain this angle throughout the stretch. .
.
2. Keep your leg straight! This is the most common error; most people will attempt to bring the leg as close to them as possible by slightly bending at the knee. You will miss all the benefits of this stretch if you bend! It doesn't matter if you can't quite get your leg to a 90簞 angle with your torso....in time you will be able to do that and more. But first, you have to focus on proper form. Keep that leg straight NO MATTER WHAT. .
.
3. Make sure both hips are flat on the ground. We have a tendency to curl up the hip of the lifted leg but you're missing out on the hip opening benefit of this stretch if you do so. If you have to open your leg wider in order to get that hip on the ground DO IT. Always do a hip check; push it down if necessary. .

Keto isn't hard and it's certainly not bland! But sometimes you just DON'T feel like putting the work in. These little packets of veggies are only 5 carbs per serving (2 servings per box) and were 5 for $4 at my local grocery store. .

They come in a variety of "flavors" and seasonings so no 2 days have to be the same. .

That pork tenderloin? Came already sauced and seasoned at 2g carb per serving, $8 for 1.5lbs which came out to 7 servings. Doesn't look like a lot? It fill me UP. I have trouble finishing this meal.

I wanted to make this video for a few different reasons, the first being to give me something to look back at in moments of discouragement along my journey to a better, healthier me. .

The second was to share the struggle with others who maybe feel it's too hard to just start, who criticize themselves for not looking like the #fitchick stereotype, who see nothing but the perfect form and grace of the #fitness role models and struggle to start because the beginning is so ugly. .

Man is it ugly. And this isn't even the beginning for me. I've been doing this for long enough to have mastered the skills and yet still fall out of rhythm, still shake with the effort of every move, still have so much more I can improve. .

But that's why we're doing it, right? To take ourselves from the mess we are (or aren't, no one said you have to be a mess to improve your life) and push ourselves to be the best we can be. .

Whatever that looks like for you just know EVERYONE can and does criticize themselves. Don't let that stop you from achieving the greatness you were destined for. Make it ugly, but make it work. .

In the mean time, make sure to take fun breaks if you find yourself getting frustrated. Sometimes all you need is a little space from the problem and an infusion of happy. .

You may think of stretching as something performed only by runners or gymnasts. But we all need to stretch in order to protect our mobility and independence. "A lot of people don't understand that stretching has to happen on a regular basis. It should be daily," says David Nolan, a physical therapist at Harvard-affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital.

Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints. Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are weak and unable to extend all the way. That puts you at risk for joint pain, strains, and muscle damage.

Stretching once today won't magically give you perfect flexibility. You'll need to do it over time and remain committed to the process. I remember reading magazines in middle school that had articles about learning to love yourself, with contributions by women who stated it took well into their 30s to learn to do so. And I didn't understand that, yet, because in my naive mind I would ALWAYS love myself. .
Then slumber parties turned into nights out and internal competition for attention, or being scorned for not fitting in. My mother wouldn't let me be who I wanted to be, people at church were judgemental, there was discrimination and harrassment everywhere and I, too, learned to judge myself. .

And it doesn't get better once you hit adulthood, especially for women. There is an expectation for how women should dress and act in order to be taken seriously in a career or as a business woman, and if you don't fit the mold you won't see success.
