#facetofacefriday Well here is one, and yes that is Christmas morning hair in 2016 🤣🤣. I don't feel like I've changed much as I was in so much denial that I was that overweight in the first place ha! I was 187 then and I'm 156 now. BF% was 33% and now it is 16%. I did keto first and got down to 165, then carnivore and my body returned to my "normal" I've always envisioned myself as. My transformation was more about restoring health (I had GERD, seborrheic dermatitis, joint stiffness, snored every night...the works.) Pics from 2016 and earlier don't lie and dang I was a tight tubby tubby! Life happens and it sneaked up on me insidiously. From former health and fitness guru, wellness center owner, martial art world champ (TKD), to a tired PT taking tons of whole food supplements, doing the complex carbs and veggies (plant-based emphasis), lean meats, low fat, and trying to "work it off" and exercise myself back into good health. It wasn't working. I shifted to diet first ... paleo, then keto, and now carnivore. My journey to health has been extremely rewarding and now I'm enjoying becoming fit again. I feel awesome! And now, having practiced what I preach, I'm committed to helping others restore their God given health...diet first, and let's just cut to the chase...Grains/carbs got ta go, then the sugar, and then the vegetable oil. A meal to be revered, especially in early times before cancer, heart disease, rampant obesity, and  type 2 diabetes. A time before vegetable oil took the place of animal fat, and a time before anyone knew what the word autoimmune disease meant. There was no such thing as fibromyalgia, hypothyroid, metabolic syndrome, IBS, Crohn's  chronic fatigue syndrome, and Alzheimer's. This is our world now. A statin prescribed world addicted to carbs and with a very loud and influential plant-based cabal. And they say we need to stay the course and just be even more plant-based! Gotta keep cholesterol low (even tho it has nothing to do with CVD risk and mortality)...Oh that makes sense. Then there is this silent but growing movement of extremely healthy vibrant people who've literally cured themselves of the so-called incurable. What did they do? They used common sense and simply discarded what was not working and practiced what was working. They shed their faulty beliefs and dropped the dogma propagated by the big food companies and their sponsored institutions ... and the government! They went against the "grain"...pun intended...and they're changing lives, starting with their own. Then with the vegan and vegetarians whose declining health demanded change. They are challenging the status quo and the very definition of health by their undeniable results. Had a filet off the grill...had a slow roasted shoulder with its own broth and a few neck bones tossed in...so I used the roast gravy and some of the broth on the filet for a really nice punch of flavors. You can add any plants you want to your diet, but you will only find regenerative constituents in animal based nutrition. Plants are not essential but can have medicinal purposes... i.e. aspirin from willow bark, aloe,  ginger, garlic, lavender, thyme, etc... About 74% of drugs come from plants. As I deal with joint pain and inflammation day in and day out in my practice, I focus on getting at the cause, the source. Medication only masks the symptom. Nutrition many times gets at the cause (chronic inflammation). Elimination of foods that cause inflammation always has to do with vegetation (nightshades especially), grains, sugar, and vegetable oils. Of course, this is after the obvious elimination of processed junk. So what's left? You tell me. Could it be,....meat? Yes, it could. And amazingly, pain consistently improves as inflammation resides (as evidenced by symptoms and inflammation markers such as CRP and sed rate.) I've yet to find a simple sustainable plant based approach to permanently getting rid of chronic inflammation. Sure, you can take curcumin/turmeric, ginger, quercetin, bromelain, resveratrol, etc. to address the symptoms. Why not address the cause? Eat meat and be done with it. #meatheals .

Not as sexy as steak, but hey, burger works too! Protein and fat, animal-based, like the original nutrition our early ancestors thrived on and now we're trying to muck it up saying that we need to act like herbivores. Weird, our stomach acid content is highly acidic compared herbivores (uh, so we can eat meat like a carnivore), and our stomach has a single chamber unlike those highly nutritious ruminant animals that are fully designed to eat vegetation, fiber, and ferment it..then we eat them. We can eat anything, but we're truly designed to take on meat...from our teeth, our digestive enzymes, and our gut. These crazy autoimmune problems were extremely rare until just recently. The green and purple stuff is merely decoration folks! The meat was the target.  Game day here at Mississippi State University, so we're taking advantage of the barren restaurant scene and hanging with some cool people at our favorite local spot...watching LSU take down Auburn, then State pummel the Cajuns👊💥I did imbibe as planned, because I can. It was less than a year and a half ago when I was 187 lbs, eating out and feeling miserable afterward. Now, at lean 156 lbs, I eat all I want and feel great. No after effects such as indigestion, GERD, bloat, diarhea, and post-prandial sludge. Life as a carnivore is really good, even when you happen upon a treat or two. Once your body heals,  it can handle the occasional "bad food" with less consequence. Unless you have an obvious allergy. Fair warning, even small amounts of carbs can trigger cravings as before in some. Those who've surpassed their cravings since becoming ZC can attest to this. .

I don't eat breakfast very often, but when I do, I include bacon 🥓😁. Got some small ribeyes that are perfect to flash fry in a skillet, then add some other brain/body healthy accoutrements 💪. Man, to think about alllllll the dietary methods I've tried, the books I've read, the research I've done (for my doctorate), the supplements I've used, the biohacks Ive tried all in search of that magical human health formula...it ends up being "just eat meat?!!" Yessiree...I am now the healthiest I've probably ever been in my life.  I abandoned my balanced diet, eat fruits veggies and lean meats, eat less + exercise more, use complex carbs, eat low fat, take whole food vitamins, and toss in fruit/veggie/protein/superfood smoothies dogma; and now I'm at my best and getting better. .
Food is a very powerful epigenetic modifier- it can change our DNA for the better or worse. Obviously, our genetics love the constituents in meat vs other. It's what we're made of, and it's what got us here as a species (not plants). It's not about taking in antioxidants and such. It's about triggering your bodies own powerful antioxidant pathways and other regenerative processes. This is why veteran carnivores look healthier and younger than their vegan counterparts. .
Eat healthy fat and protein my friends and bring out the healthiest genetic expression of you. Quit pounding your cells with foods that stress your digestion and assimilation processes. You are not made of green juice, red juice, leafy greens, oxalates, and cellulose. Think about it. Your body can handle these things but they aren't needed. Animal fats and proteins are needed. End of story. When beef consumption started to plummet in the 70's, well, you know the story...look at where we are now. Meat wasn't the problem. It wasn't there. .

Cheap and fast carnivore on the run. Also reintroducing some foods (no plan to eat veggies anymore😁)...burger, bacon, egg, and a little cream cheese for the win. Busy week of practice helping people get rid of physical ailments and return to pain free lives. Of course diet is a large part of that. I'm in an area where keto is a buzz word and more of another diet thingy. We are ripe with vegetable oil dominating on the store shelves, biscuits are essential, obesity is common, arthritis is part of life, statins are part of a balanced diet, cardiovascular events in 40-50 year olds are too close to home, we all have friends with cancer, and the list goes on. No one considers diet until it's too late, and then it's all about eating less (the salad and Special K paradigm) and exercising more which has never worked...obviously. Fortunately, I'm making a difference one patient at a time. As I push forward, one truth remains painfully steadfast and that is that carb addiction rules. Most are not willing to make dietary changes unless a life altering event has happened. It's just not worth giving up the comfort in food. Food as fuel is an unknown concept. It's such a pleasure to see that patient "get it" then get a result like waking up without pain after eating steak only for a week. They are shocked, and the game of restoring health, rejuvenating, and returning to a vibrant pain free life is ON! .

If you are applying for life insurance and have to do a physical including blood work, keep in mind that they do use archaic invalid methods of determining cardiac risk, i.e. total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides, and glucose. No, they don't do a triglyceride/HDL ratio which is a fairly good indicator. They definitely don't do an LDL particle test. So for those who have to show a total chol. of 200 or below to qualify ...and you're on a keto-carnivore or carnivore woe...good luck. We have a long way to go for things like this to change. .

Getting better and better everyday, literally. Meat only for 11 weeks. Yes, there are plants that can be used medicinally. But do we really need fruits, vegetables, nuts, roots, and legumes to be our healthiest? It's literal heresy in today's sponsored institutional based education to think otherwise. I am a product of that very entity. The truth is out there, and it's very real, valid, and reliable. Unfortunately, the truth is not very profitable. You will not hear it from the media or your traditionally trained medical professional. It took a lot for me to accept the truth staring me right in the face. Animal saturated fat is good, in fact it's quite curative. Animal based protein is essential. We as homosapiens are here because of these 2 very constituents. Our brains are smaller now but still made of 60% fat...its the fattiest organ in the body, and the white matter is about 75% cholesterol. No wonder we have so many neurodegenerative diseases! Getting better and better everyday, literally. Meat only for 11 weeks. Yes, there are plants that can be used medicinally. But do we really need fruits, vegetables, nuts, roots, and legumes to be our healthiest? It's literal heresy in today's sponsored institutional based education to think otherwise. Felt like a little organ meet, some rib meat, t-bone, and brisket burger..how's that for variety ha! Was going for ribeye but that'll be tomorrow. My youngest daughter joined me and we split it. She's keto, so she breaks out the Guy's BBQ sauce for the rib meat - I just salted mine of course. No calorie counting, no macro measuring, just eating interesting cuts of steak and burger twice a day to satiety. Occasionally, I toss in chicken, organ meats, wild caught salmon, and other game meats. My favorite meat is ribeye 😁. My weight has stabilized at my ideal..a little better than my goal actually, but this woe is more about health, and I feel the best I have since my late twenties. I know it's hard for many to accept the concept of meat only as a sustainable woe. Our misguided education preaches eat a balanced meal including veggies. Now the plant-based movement is underway - lunacy! But evolutionary biology tells us different, and our bodies thrive on what got us here as a species - animal based nutrition (fat and protein)...meat. Yes, we can get by on plants (even tho only 99% are not edible and can cause harm). But I think it's evident and almost common sense that we did not survive to this point in human history on foraging and chewing up veggies, fruits, roots, and bark . They were supplemental at best. You can eat any way you want, but when it comes to repairing chronic issues, restoring optimal physiology, and expressing the healthiest genetic expression of you possible, meat rules🤘.

I give you the answer to our current state of chronic ailments and obesity that for some reason we've just accepted it as the norm. No questions, just medication. All this other stuff is a fad, carnivore is a return to ancestral nutrition, hence the epigenetic love. I do recognize it's such a departure from our new norms (fads ha!), but its a great woe that's always there for you when you're ready to see what the healthiest genetic expression of your body can be 💪😊✌. I give you the answer to our current state of chronic ailments and obesity that for some reason we've just accepted it as the norm. No questions, just medication.
