This time last year, on a van tour of nz - my life long bestie @lizardqueenn and I finished up our last stop in Mt Cook national park, NZ. It is definitively the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. However, our magical, Instagram worthy drive up the mountain pass was not a precursor for what was to come. We had an intense evening waiting upon arrival on our only night there - as news spread of a man who had collapsed at the base of mount Cook. Liz, an emt, firefighter, and general badass took it upon herself to sprint to the base of the mountain and try to save this mans life. I waited in self inflicted anxiety drinking wine and pacing, but I knew. It had been too long. He was gone, and he was already gone. Liz returned amidst blaring ambulances with a look of defeat and painful reality. We shared a surreal, unspoken moment in the old van that only old friends could really share. I’ll never know exactly what happened at the base of Mt Cook that night. It was a culmination of a month on the road, and subsequently our exit from down under.
I’ve thought a lot about that night. I painted that night. As I’m getting older, I’m realizing painting is a translation of my life. It’s a language I’m not exactly sure how to share rooted in my emotional state. Whether it’s abstract, or based on realism- I paint to understand life’s most beautiful and most fucked up moments. And as we said good bye to the man we didn’t know and we never would, we headed out of the park the next morning watching the New Zealand landscape; both knowing what happened and never knowing how to comprehend it.
So I’ve painted this painting of mount cook, it started off as something I was about to burn... as many of my paintings do in the beginning. And I kept pushing, painting, staying detached until something started to appear. It’s called “the rush” and it will be hanging at Art Aqua in Miami this weekend. #aquaartroom226
Might be my longest post yet... Big thanks to @aspenartcollective for making this weekend possible ❤️#miamiartweek#artbasel2018#aspenartcollective#aquaartmiami

Just got my dreamy prints back from my new printer of this guy and a couple others! Seriously the most amazing print I’ve ever seen- it looks exactly like the original. This painting “the ridge’ is from 2017 but I’ve received the most requests for this painting in a large print! So here it is - swipe right to see my photography that does not do justice. ⚡️⚡️⚡️ Use code “blessed” for 30% off this print and others in my web shop starting on Friday Nov 23 for one day only! There are two sizes for those on a budget and others looking for something a little larger 🥂
Looking back to a couple years ago shooting with the amazing @davidcliffordphotography. I was so nervous for this shoot and definitely ripped a tequila shot beforehand... I was filled with self doubt about my art and really my identity as an artist. 2018 has been a lot about owning my dreams and owning myself as an artist. I still get nervous but the more I paint, the more I feel alive and well with my work. ⚡️⚡️⚡️ So I’m really honored to have been invited to show at Art Basel this December with @aspenartcollective. I really never thought this day would come. The Aspen Art Collective (@madelinececilia_ )has been working their booty off to curate an amazing room at Art Aqua full of artists from Aspen. And I’m proud to be one of the artists attending. ⚡️⚡️⚡️
GIVEAWAYY!! My first give away is live! Two 8x10” archival prints pictured when you swipe left. The first print is of Mount Sopris located in Carbondale, Co. The second print is of the Highlands Bowl which is a part of Aspen Highlands ski area in Aspen, Co. I have not reproduced either of these paintings yet- so the winner will have the first prints!

Instagram isn’t reality. Not everything you see on here defines someone’s life :) So here’s me being real, taking an awkward selfie on the side of the road. Probably about to open a box of wine and simultaneously break my camera 🙏🏽 happy friyay
