You all know how strongly I feel about improving your mental strength addition to your physical. 
I’ve been playing with the idea of meditation to start off my day in addition to journaling, and finally decided to take the jump.
Meditation I’ve found with this app is like any habit you’re trying to incorporate-it’s one small step at a time. I start with 3 minutes a day, and will slowly increase over time. 
Breathing and learning to bring my focus where needed, and having more control over my thoughts are my goals at this time but the great thing about this app is that you’re able to gear it towards focusing, towards decreasing anxiety, towards better quality sleep, and several other goals!

This mental struggle is just another reason why photo accountability is SO important. Sometimes the scale, and even the tape measure won’t show you what a good, ol’ side-by-side-by-side photo will.
✨📸 Positive self talk and comparison photos 👌🏻 I’ve shown my flat, pancakesc, pre lifting booty a few times. Since that photo I’ve taken a few more over the years, and this is the slow, but steady, solid progress.

When I have clients thanking me I strive most to make them aware that I can write the best splits, the easiest nutrition plans, and put it all on a damn gold platter. But it doesn’t do shit if they don’t put in the work. And trust you me, I can tell when the effort is not put in as well as I can see when it is.

It’s not a magic pill, and it certainly isn’t always easy. But it IS worth it. YOU are worth it.

Honestly posing is my weakest point. I am all for the nutrition grind, and zoning out while growing and transforming my muscles, fasted cardio is a breeze. 
But ask me to get up in front of x number of people in 6 inch heels is where my anxiety spikes a bit 😜 👠 
It’s exhilarating when I’m actually on the stage, and i love every second of it. But you can be sure that not having a set routine put together would make it a hell of a lot less exhilarating 
My point with this ramble is know your weak points. Identify them, call them out, and then bust ass until they become your strengths

Know your WHY and keep it at the forefront of your mind always.  Sometimes you need to change your why, sometimes you need to reevaluate the whole damn plan  But always, ALWAYS find your why

Want to lose weight? Why? Not just because you want to fit in those jeans, really dig deep - find why

Want to run long distance? Why?

Want to step on that pro stage & win your crown? Why?  Want to set these goals & reach every one? WHY?? I’ve had to reevaluate my why, my whole damn process, my whole damn reasoning and life recently. Its brought me to an motivational dip, some serious self-doubt, and internal questioning.

I’ve noticed that when life gets hard I go into survival mode and my grind because strong, my willpower hardens, strengthens. I dig deep to channel into a positive goal. But now that life’s taken a turn with a brief relief I find myself standing still while the dust settles. I’m questioning my why now that I’m standing in the quiet, peaceful rubble, picking up non-fitness related pieces of my life. My energy & time are both limited, they’re valuable and as dedicated as I am I need to have my whys laid out in order to prioritize, to shape how I am to rebuild myself, my life.

Don’t get me wrong- I’m still following my meal plans, and training splits and @aliciagowans_wbffpro and @allysangels_fitness I’ve come to know as family have been amazing. But in my head I have moments where I have to stop, and really think “why am I doing this?” “what do I want out of all this?” “how will this play out into my life long goals/plans?” “what am I going to do with this?” “what is the point?” “how can I use this to move myself forward, to progress?” I am constantly keeping my whys at the forefront of my mind. I put them on my phone screens, on post its, on the writeable surfaces in my home like my fridge so I am constantly reminded. Because if you lose your why it will be that much harder to push, to really dedicate yourself. And to succeed you must know your why, you must become comfortable with being uncomfortable, you must be obsessed with improvement. When your motivation dips, your willpower is low & you want to throw in the towel that is when you remember

Am I superstitious? No. Do I put a lot of value in astronomical signs? No.  Do I firmly believe that all the things I wish on (like the angel numbers 11:11/2:22/1:11 etc., wish bones, first star sightings, and so forth) hold my fate? Absolutely not.

So why do I continually post them? Why do I keep saying “make a wish?” Because I find the little things that bring smiles, and positivity transpire into the rest of your day. That giving yourself a moment of childlike wonder in making a silly wish when the first star comes out at night can bring the sweet smiles to your face. That something small like seeing a crazy number can give you comfort in times of need.

I post them because I love the small comforts. I love the simple, almost insignificant moments that are instantly brightened. I love any reason to genuinely smile, and I love the opportunity to share that moment and watching someone else’s face light up with their own genuine happiness. So from now on when I see my crazy angel numbers I’ll post what they’re meaning is, just in case you all need a bit of extra comfort too.

This is my main dude, my little guy, and he’d be my ride or die but he hates cars 🚗 And photos, he hates cameras 📸 He’s had probably 12 different names since he’s become part of my little family, and Squish is the one that’s stuck.

This is my Squish. I shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy 🐟🐠 He was feeling super under the weather this week, so Squish and I took a quick trip to the vets where poor Squish was diagnosed with a serious blockage. He was quickly fixed right up, and then stayed two nights to make sure his toxin levels were down, and everything was back to tip top shape. I have to admit I DID NOT expect my house to feel so empty without him those nights, but it absolutely did. I’m psyched my resilient little Squish is feeling better, and that he’s back home.

He’s not completely back to his old self, but he’s getting a little better each day 🐈

There is NO such thing as “magic foods”

It is also NOT true that all calories are created equal

You all know marketing & rebranding games that companies love to play. “0 calories” “eat this and drop a pants size” “drink that and drop 2” “the magic food that will help you burn more fat” “the secret drink that boosts your metabolism”

The cold hard truth is a whole lot more simple than they want you to believe. It just takes CONSISTENCY, and PATIENCE.

Some foods use more energy (calories) to digest. Carbs take the least amount, followed by fats, leaving protein as the one that your body uses the most energy to process. This DOES NOT mean go whole hog and only consume protein. Your body needs more to sustain and transform then just protein.

Genetically everyone’s body will react different to foods. Your body might be able to handle wheat derivative products, where I KNOW I’ll blow up to look like a beached manatee if I even look at a piece of bread.

This can take some patience, and testing but once you figure out which foods your body agrees with, and line it up with a proper set up of carbs/fats/proteins that your body needs (FYI it’s different for everyone) then you’ll start seeing results.

REMEMBER- this is a slow game. Slow and steady progress will be sure to last, and habits will stick, and it will be a lifestyle.

Do you notice that after a few solid, successful instances of resisting the food temptations your cravings tend to go away? It’s easier to continue to say no, but once you take a bite that urge comes right back full force?

There’s more than just a want for the food, it’s a brain reaction. Old habits you need to unlearn,  and new healthy habits you need to form.

It seems like it gets easier to say no, but the truth is you’re just getting stronger 😉
