It’s hard to believe our first born turns fifteen today. It seems we closed our eyes for a second and suddenly a young man stood where a boy used to be. It’s overwhelming to see him on the edge of adulthood, with stars in his eyes and the world at his feet.
August 24th, 2003 was a Sunday. It was the 236th day of the year. I began having contractions the night before his scheduled induction. He was two weeks past his due date. After some stressful complications, he was born at 1:07 AM via C-section. He was skinny, long, and hungry.
I didn’t sleep a wink for three days after he arrived. I was terrified someone would steal him. I held him as close to my body as I could. He was mine and I was his. It was the most special bond I’d ever known.
Parenting him has been fifteen years of pure love, frustration, worry, and joy. Whether he’s been happy, upset, excited, or heartbroken, we’ve been right there with him, feeling all the emotions. Along the way, we hoped the choices we made were the right ones for him and, most importantly, that he always knew we loved him beyond measure.
He has all the tools necessary to succeed in this world. He’s an intelligent, charismatic, and driven young man. We’re so proud of his determination, dedication, and grit. I’m humbled and honored to be his mom.
I can only hope he’ll tolerate me for the next few years while we’re still sleeping under the same roof. I’ll be hugging him a little harder and holding him a little longer.
My baby boy. I’ll love him forever, I’ll like him for always, as long as I’m living, my baby he’ll be. ❤️
Happiness isn’t something looming on the horizon, but rather something right in front of your nose. The warmth of the sun, dolphins playing, the giggles of those you love — everyday little joys all lined up in a row. ❤️
Someone is turning ONE! ❤️ During his first year of life, this little cherry topper was left for dead in a cardboard box and suffered an unfortunate tibial crest avulsion. We’re aiming for a much brighter year two. May his day be full of pupcakes, toys with noise... and zero vet bills. 😆
I used to make a habit of scoffing at those who worked out. The thought of sweating made me cringe. It wasn’t until I turned forty-seven, when my goods started dropping, that I decided to create a habit for myself. Now, I rise as early as 4:45 AM to meet my mat and my friends to stretch and balance our minds and bodies in a 105 degree room. I have so much gratitude for @sumitsyoga_nelliegail @robbinrubio @tiffanyfrohoff_browstudio @glow___getter @amity2139 @nam___aste @tj2xoxo @lisarica423 and all the gorgeous, sweaty souls who’ve inspired me to create a better future. It warms my heart and soul — among other things. 🔥 😳 🤣💦
...Because it’s hot out there! ...And it’s green so it’s basically a salad. Ginger helps balance thyroid hormones and limes purge toxins from the body. #winwin
