When you find a good hairstylist, stick with her (him)! Shoutout to @weena_hairstylist for this awesome silk press and trim on my natural hair. I'm sure she is the ONLY hairstylist who touched my natural hair since 2009 (I have a bad memory but I'm pretty positive hihi). This year is my 10 year relaxer free and I've been rocking my natural hair (afro) for 9 years. I transitioned for 9 months and chopped my hair back in 2008-2009. I won't lie and say the last 10 years managing curly hair was easy but it is totally worth it. I do it for my health (inside out). I was tired of burning my scalp to get my hair to look like other's hair. Don't get me wrong, I do find straight hair beautiful. I actually spent a couple of hours at the salon Monday night to get the temporary straight look. But I have learned to appreciate and care for my hair the way it naturally grows out: in it's kinky-curly state.
This is not 10 years of growing my hair out. I actually did a second major cut in 2015. And I'm planning to do another one next spring. I'm totally over long hair. I just want healthy natural hair. I think the key to rocking natural hair, is to keep it at a manageable length. I've had my hair longer throughout the years and always come to a point where I need to cut to reduce the time spent taking care of my hair.
What is your relationship with your hair ( No matter your hair type). Let's have a discussion!
It was so hot when hubby took pictures of this #elliotsweater a month ago! Round of applause to all sewing bloggers braving temperatures (hot and cold) to get amazing pictures for their followers 😅😅😅
The #elliotsweater is 20% off all week on @helens__closet shop! Make sure to grab it!!
I'm a huge fan of the new #elliotsweater by @helens__closet ! Today is pattern launch day. Check out Helen's page for all the details and check out my blog post for more pictures and details on my tester version! I'm sure you'll enjoy wearing this one this fall! I have been quiet over here but could not stay away and need get involved in this movement happening in the #sewingcommunity at the moment. I've always felt like people of color were not really represented in media (this applies to social media Big Time). I've also always felt like we are not really represented when it comes to sewing magazines and sewing patterns covers. And I also feel like we have to make much more effort to be seen and supported out here. So it is only right for me to spread the word about @thelittlepomegranate efforts to celebrate #womenofcolour .
We are here and we make good stuff too 😊😊
Also to continue on @candiceayala post, I am a Canadian sewing blogger/vlogger of Haitian decent. #sewincolour#pocwhosews
All of these pretty colours around make me want to do 2 things! Colour and cut my hair 😅😅😅 Doesn't help that @brittanyjjones and @sewmuchtalent went for bomb cuts last week! I don't think I'll cut before next spring but a little colour wouldn't hurt 😅😅 I have left over colour on my tips from when I coloured about 2 years ago. It makes my hair look dry when it is not. My hair colour need to be revived!
Should I do a natural hair update? Think the last one I did was over a year ago! Let me know!
So... I'm back on the blog after almost 2 months of silence sharing about my new denim #rosariskirt (link in my bio!). I have to admit that I'm not sure about continuing with BOTH YouTube and the blog since I am unable to be consistent with the post while managing both. I am in deep reflection. I know I have to let go of one to do better. Plus I am itching to solely post on IG instead of the blog since I'm not sure how much people read blog these days. Do y'all still visit blog? Mostly watch YouTube? Only look at IG post? I'm very curious to know in order to guide my reflections! Also, are you enjoying fall sewing as much as I do? #sewing#fallsewing#buttonup#imakemyownclothes
Feeding my buttons obsession. I'm in love with the #rosariskirt by @paulinealice_patterns ! Got this denim and beautiful rayon while fabric shopping in Quebec last month! These 2 fabrics are perfect for each other! The shirt is #m7472 📸 @alexfred7
Finally had the time to wear my #bridalshower dress again, one more time before summer fades away. This is Vogue 9251 in a rayon fabric from @fine_fabrics_canada ! I had the pleasure of collaborating with this shop prior to the wedding for my 5k subscriber giveaway. I really love this dress and will probably make another version next summer! I will probably need to make a bust adjustments next time cause getting my sisters covered with this dress is a real challenge hihi! ***Edited: Y'all are so sweet for all the marriage tips! We appreciate it! I'd love to have a couple of post on my feed that people in a love relationship can turn to as an encouragement! We can all grow from tips from those who went through those things before us!! Also, as a christian, I do believe in unconditional love to a certain point. To me it is obvious that unconditional love stops when physical or emotional safety is at risk (before he or she actually have inappropriate behavior) *** #fbf Almost 3 months ago 😯😯 💜💜💜 Though you may be able to make your wedding day look like it is straight out of a fairytale, marriage is not always fairytale-like #letsbereal Make sure you get onboard with someone who is willing to fight for the best! I have a long way to go as I am someone who can easily turn the page and start fresh when things tends to get sour. Marriage is testing me in all sorts of way. #forbetterorworse they say right 😅😅But through it all, I am convinced that you come out a better person out of this #unconditionallove thing. Any tips on how to love unconditionally?? 💜💜💜💜
I love hearing my followers on real life situations. Sewing tends to make me not deal with life 😂😂😂 Speaking of sewing, I need to get back on the blog and on the channel!
