Kind of forgot to share this but this past Saturday I got to see Chamberlain (@fiveyeardiary) play the 20th anniversary of their record The Moon My Saddle in DC with @jarrodxxxpersevere , @jamietarthurs . I remember, 20 years ago, seeing most of the crowd at the Chameleon Club turn against them for playing, what sounded like country music to us back in 1998(?). I have to admit, I didn’t quite get it at first either. I felt bad for them. They seemed genuinely confused as to why people didn’t appreciate the new songs. It was a tense show. A couple years later though, it became one of my staples, and listening to that album feels like someone just handed me a cup of tea and gave me a long hug. I’m glad I was able to see them perform it live and really appreciate it this time in such an intimate setting with people who really loved it.
The First Stooges House - 1324 Forest Court Ann Arbor, MI - IGGY AND THE STOOGES lived and practiced in this two-story house, which they sublet during the summer of 1967. According to Joe Ambrose’s “Gimme Danger, the Story of Iggy Pop,” it was here that the band came up with its name, while watching a Three Stooges marathon on TV.
