Tough race today went out conservative. Haven’t done any speed workouts for two weeks. So going off of 55 miles a week I knew that Hurt was coming. The gun went off I was search for local Queens runners around me. Also the competition had a bullseye on me. Three Mexican runners that live in Queens knew this would being a strategy type of race. Mile one I wanted to go out a little bit faster than marathon pace. 5:09
Mile 2 I taught in and relied on my teammates to push me through the next mile. Hoping to keep it comfortable did not realize my heart rate was slowly going up. 5:10
Mile 3 I was going back-and-forth with the different queens runners. One Runner would make a surge. Why the other one would set back.
They will go back-and-forth pushing the pace and letting off the gas. That would test my two types of muscle fibers for each mile. 5:11
4.mile there was a gap starting to develop between me and one of the locals Queens runner. I was feeling the pace so I tried to let off the gas and see if my body would respond.
Mile 5 I fell off the pack there is one Runner from Queens a head of me. My breeding increased my heart rate was up I was trying to relax. But the body was not responding. Two other runners passed me I tried to go with their pace to hang on. Right before the 6 mile one of the locals queens runners dropped out.
6. I knew I had one more Runner to run down that was hundred meters ahead of me. I kept on pushing the pace but whatever I did I kept on landing on my heel. Also the movement of my body was not synced. So it’s all I had left I tried to push and came in second overall in Queens. Also 19th overall not happy with the time. But sometimes you just got to get across the line.
You’ll have bad races and good races the trick is to learn from them.
