I shot the image I used for the painting in 1974 as a slide, carrying it with me throughout 4+ decades of living. After our marriage in 1974, my sife, Connie, and I worked as resident managers of the Midwestern Motel in Fremont. Nebraska while she completed her final semester of college, prior to us moving to Madison, Wisconsin where I earned my Master of Art in 1977. The little yellow 1974 VW Super Beetle belonged to my parents, I probably borrowed it, parking it in front of the office.
The time of Kodachrome and slide film is a time of the past, and a time of my past which emerged this past year when I started scanning slides I've carried around all this time. It has been interesting to interact with those memories.
