An open letter to everyone that thinks the “blue wave” is the biggest problem in this country right now:
“Terrible. I pray for this country.” Well. I’d like you to know that I pray for you too. When children are ripped from their mothers while seeking refuge at our borders, I pray for you. When my partner tells me a story about being threatened by a cop simply for holding a woman’s hand, I pray for you. When I sit down at the end of a 50 hour work week and realize I’m still barely making ends meet, I pray for you. When another young man is shot by an adult in uniform because of the color of his skin, I pray for you. When a man that publicly mocks a disabled journalist and refuses to apologize is elected into our highest office anyways, I pray for you. When no one believes the woman brave enough to face America and relive her trauma, I pray for you. When I am harassed on the highway by a man in a truck proudly sporting a red baseball cap, I pray for you.
I pray that someday you will realize that the number in your bank account is not more important than the lives, the safety, and the rights of your fellow Americans. I pray that someday you will realize that money was never more important than another person’s right to live freely in this country.
So while the ballot I cast today was all blue, but I’d like you to know that I pray for you too.
My mom dropped the ball today and told me she saw this gem at an estate sale in Canton yesterday, but failed to actually bring it home with her. This photo is evidence of the drive we took out there to pick it up this morning.
Kinder, sweeter, and smarter than the world deserves, but we’re all better off with you here. Thank you for every single thing you do. Happy birthday to you! I love you more than there are words for it. ❤️👨🔬🧢🐕🌻🥨
