ARE YOU A FAIR WEATHER GOLFER? I’m not going to lie, I find the cold very challenging to practice in...first the hands go, ❄️ then the toes go ❄️❄️!! But a duvet jacket from @nike helped me yesterday to get some work done and today I’m out to brave the cold again. Thick socks, some wrist warmers and waterproofs on board! Who’s with me? 💃🏼🏌🏼♀️#weekendgolf#fairweathergolfer#winter2k18
When it comes down to it, we’re all here trying our best every single day and riding the path we’re on. It’s different for us all, our experiences vary. So it seems at the very least, being positive, supportive and kind can go a very long way! •••• It was almost exactly a year ago I started training on the @wattbike and It’s been an amazing addition to my training. (for body and mind) But by far, the thing watt bike training has given me most is the pleasure of having fun and sharing vibes with this lot! #wattbikefamily#sharethevibes#letslive#trainhard#workhard#playhard
When the sun finally comes back out!! ☀️ Winter sun can be sparse so even more reason to get outside when it does appear. If you can’t get onto the golf course 😜, then a quick 10 minute walk in nature is a great way to lift the spirit and get your daily movement count up! It’s easy to stay inside when it’s cold outside but a quick 10 minute walk never hurt anyone and I promise you’ll feel lifted afterwards! #mondaythoughts#littleandoften#getoutside 🍂🐿✨❄️
Anyone playing on the course today? I’m not, but if I had a choice I’d be playing @crailgolf with my old man. If you could only play one course again, forever, which would it be?? #sundaygolf#namethecourse#favourite
Working hard isn’t just about practicing for hours and going to the gym, it’s also about a healthy and happy mind and body. Mental health and all that surrounds it, is becoming more and more of an openly discussed topic and it seems there is much to learn. I’m increasingly aware of the connection between mind and body, there is no dividing line. If we are unhappy in our mind, our body will react and vice verse. If you work hard going to the gym and working on technique then it would be silly not to do the same for the mind. Perhaps theres an untapped level in your performance? I thought practicing mindfulness or prioritising practice of the mind would lead to more thought, and ultimately more worry. I was wrong and It didn’t. My current approach involves:
1. Being kind. Remember everyone is on their own path and who knows what they’re going through. So be kind and both of you will feel better.
2. Taking time to breathe. Shallow breaths keep us going but a few deep breaths are enough to slow you down and bring you back, even if only for a few moments.
3. Taking breaks from social media (ironic I’m writing this on social media right?!) but a walk without a phone or the pang of technology can do wonders for the brain. It deserves a break.
4. Laughing as much as possible!! Because life is serious enough
5. Remembering that there is a natural eb and flow to all this...sometimes we’ll feel stressed and sometimes like we’re absolute smashing it! But both pass and return soon again. 🌊
5. Using @headspace app for 10 minutes daily meditation 💙

Here’s a video from when I wasn’t able to get back to the clubs yet and was working on alternative drills with @samtrumangolf using a med-ball.....he was working on his catch 👌🏻 #nailedit#golfdrills#sequencing what drills do you use that don’t involve a club?
SLOW REPS WILL NOT MAKE YOU SLOW: Serious love hate relationship with this exercise, Eccentric rear foot elevated split squat with kettlebell. Great exercise to work on during the winter season, working on each leg will reduce muscle imbalance and eccentric moves are critical to increasing your body’s ability to produce power! Who’s getting after it this week? 💪🏼 #golffitness#power#stength
Foam rolling my way into the weekend! ❄️🌱💃🏼 Staying supple for golf isn’t easy at all but little sessions slotted into the day make maintaining your flexibility a whole lot easier. Usually, what gets me doing my 10 minutes of daily stretching is knowing I can get some good tunes on and zone out for a while. Good music is a great motivator for me! Which parts of your body are negatively impacting your golf swing and how can you work on this over the winter time? #foodforthought#fridaymood#fridayfoamroll#bluefriday#blackfriday#redfriday
MINDFUL MOMENTS: Not quite sure what I was thinking at this precise moment but it’s likely I was in between mindful moments. I find that getting out for a brisk 10 or 20 minute walk each day gives me the headspace I need to find clarity in a world that seems to go at an ever increasing pace! 💨💨 Sometimes I listen to some music, sometimes I don’t but being outside in nature (ideally with a borrowed 4 legged friend!), especially at this time of year is a great way to get some extra movement into the day and also some clear head space. How do you find headspace in a world full of noise and distraction? #mindfulmoments#littleandoften#findtimeforyourhead#headspace#winterwalks#taketime#nature
SUPERBOOST YOUR PORRIDGE: For the days when you’re not flying out the door and have time to make yourself a glorious breakfast, here’s a tasty and nutritious option that’s full of protein, easy to make and turns dull porridge into a taste sensation. And I’m scottish so I really know my porridge! 🐻
- OATS cooked in milk of choice and @formnutrition protein powder •
- Large dollop of @fage_uk Greek yogurt • - @pipandnut Choc & Orange nut butter 😍 •
- sprinkle of chia seeds • - sprinkle of raisins • - sliced banana for good measure •
••••• And there we have it, a taste and nutrition sensation that starts with a simple base of porridge. 💙
