it was a pleasure as usual, to see you and get to know you yesterday at our breakfast. Thank you for creating this magic atmosphere of support & inspiration!
If you like to stay in contact, please post a comment below. See you in December! ❤️
Still being in awe from our yesterday’s breakfast, I remembered how I attended my first event for female entrepreneurs 5 years ago.
It was like an awakening. I saw all those women, who dared not only to talk about their dreams, but also to take real ACTIONS to pursue them. All those beautiful projects they talked about, every each of them not only creative, bold and unique, but also aiming to make the world better, to create a real value, a true difference.
My heart was pounding as I was looking at their faces and hearing their stories, some of them resembling mine so much!
At that time I was stuck at a boring 9-5 job, not able even to TALK about what I want, let alone act on it. But it was the first moment, when I felt my dreams could become real, there might be a way.
Since then a lot has changed, and now I DO pursue my dreams, I did quit my job, I founded a business that I love, and started helping other women to do so.
In our @ichselbstaendig community we have assembled such an exceptional group of like-minded women, and I am so happy to see it grow! The power of supporting community is amazing. When you see others can do it, you believe you can too. You find inspiration and you become inspiration. You help each other to grow and to follow one’s unique path. We are unique but we should not walk alone. Together we are stronger, and it is just more fun!
I look forward to seeing you at our future events! ❤️
thank you very much for coming this morning and for making it yet another exciting experience full of inspiration and encouragement! ❤️ Together we are stronger! Looking forward to keeping in touch with you and seeing you soon again!

🎨 What sparked your inspiration for this great and challenging project?
📷 My inspiration came from my female friends and women I saw and met in my life.
And also, I as a woman didn’t feel represented in media’s definition of what a woman should look like, be like and act like. That image mostly makes women feel bad or not good enough.
I wish this image could change into a more realistic and inspiring image of women for women.
🎨 What piece of advice would you give to a fellow female entrepreneur just starting her journey of self-employment?
📷 That is a question I hear being asked a lot!
And to be honest, I don’t have an answer.
I find it hard to give any advice. The journey of entrepreneurship involves so many details. So many books have been written on the topic of how to be successful.
I often have listened to others too much, I should have more trusted my guts!
Maybe that’s what I’d suggest. And the really good stuff is mostly where fear is holding you back. It’s worth to have a look there.
🎨 Nowadays there exist a certain “ideal image” of a modern woman - successful career, happy family, perfect body - that many women struggle to achieve and therefore often feel “less than“ or “not enough”. How would you suggest to deal with these feelings?
📷 Always question what you see and being told from society. If it’s not aligned with what you feel, don’t believe it.
There are so many inspiring women who make their own rules and spread their message via social media and the internet. Find them, follow them and get inspired by them to also find your voice.
Women don’t yet believe in their own power. Why giving others the power over us and make us feel bad? Let’s not believe that sh**! ✨
🎨 You own a business and are a mommy to an adorable son, what does your schedule look like? Do you feel that you have mastered the work-life balance?
📷 It really was a learning process to have a kid AND a business. The feeling there’s never enough time for either of them is something I had to get used to and master and it’s still a challenge. It’s about setting very clear priorities, also saying no, focus on the things that really matter to you and not doing everything by yourself.
My husband and I are on a equal footing with work and childcare. And I learned that not everything needs to be perfect! I‘m not the kind of mom who volunteers first when it comes to baking cakes for kindergarden, I‘m the one who volunteers for buying „Brezn“ from the bakery.
📷 What does success look like for you?
🎨 To live a self determind life, creating my art, finding my voice and communicating it through photography.
Success as an artist is also to combine art and entrepreneurship. Every artist also wants to sell, but the process of creation has to be completely free. It has to come from the heart, not from a selling point of view.
Success for me is finding that balance of free creation of art and monetizing afterwards, bringing value to others with art and selling.
Some people might think it’s less romantic to hear an artist talking about selling and entrepreneurship, but when there’s no selling and money, no art can be created!
🎨 Do you have any life rules you live by?
📷 Getting closer to my true self.
🎨 Your new project Female Diversity has an amazing power to change people´s perception of beauty: Could you please tell us more about it?
📷 I noticed that my perception of female beauty was not what’s represented in media. I saw so much beauty, often within women who didn’t feel very beautiful for themselves.
I had the strong feeling to show this view to make more people see what I see. The positive response I get from women is more than I could have imagined. Not everyone likes my images, but that’s also ok. Some people are so used to the manipulated image of a female body.
🎨 Did you always know you wanted to work as a photographer?
📷 My passon for photography began in my early twenties when I bought my first SLR camera - film back then! It felt right from the very beginning and I made my decision that this will be my profession.
🎨 What is it about photography that makes you feel it's the right fit for you?
📷 It‘s about creating images. Before I found the medium camera I loved painting. I still get a lot of inspiration from paintings. I just changed the medium so now I paint with light, colors or contrasts, with my subject, the emotions and essence of personalities.
🎨 You started in Fashion and Beauty photography —> How did you launch your own business? Was the switch difficult for you or did it come naturally?
📷 I’ve worked as a photo assistant, that‘s a good way to grow into the business of photography.
In 2007 I was in the transition of getting my first commissioned jobs next to being an assistant. I can‘t really speak of a real launch. I rememer creating my first website and a printed portfolio. Then as a young photographer you try to get your work in front of as many eyes as possible. Agencies, magazines or fashion labels. I wouldn’t say it was an easy phase.
One thing an artist must learn and make peace with is rejection. It‘s good to see it as a huge game to really find the people who are a good fit in a business way.
In fashion and beauty photography I felt the lack of depth. I was more interested in characters, personalities and the stories behind people. So the switch to portrait photography came very natural to me.
Dear Ladies 💕 ,
we are thrilled to introduce our #heroine_of_the_week - Sung-Hee Seewald - a photographer and founder of @sungheeseewald.
Sung-Hee discovered quite early in her life that photography is her passion. Since then she had a long and exciting journey to finding her own unique expression in this broad field - from fashion photography, to portrait & emotional photography, and, eventually, to founding her heart project "Female Diversity".
In this project Sung-Hee captures female bodies in their uniqueness, diversity and "realness", in order to show different types of female beauty and to make women feel more beautiful, even if they don't match the current "beauty standarts".
Sung-Hee's work brings women confidence and power to make their own rules in life, to be more independent of the society stereotypes, and to be more aware of their beauty and uniqueness! ❤️ Read our interview with Sung-hee about her inspiring journey below.✨
Dear Ladies 💕,
We were again really happy to see & meet you all yesterday, get inspired by your beautiful projects and exciting life stories! 🌸
Together we are stronger and happier 🙃
We wish you best of luck with your endeavors and look forward to seeing you again soon! 😘

Sometimes a correct question helps you move forward better than an external advice💡. Today we invite you to ask yourself the following question❓: “What is your main block?" 🚧
What is this one thing (fear, belief, obstacle) that prevents you from moving forward, towards your dreams, towards your goals, towards your true, ideal life? ✨
If you like - share with us your answer below! 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻❤️
🍥 What is your current biggest challenge in business? And what is the one thing of past 6 months you are especially proud of?
🍰 The biggest challenge is to establish the new location so that I am happy about it – it is still work in progress. Or at least happy to 75%.
One thing I am happy about? I guess that I survived having a little girl in my baby-carrier and a coffee cup in my hand, haha 😄 🍥 Every now and then all of us get doubts if we are on the right track. How do you deal with your feelings in such moments and what is your advice to our fellow entrepreneurs?
🍰 When in doubt, just try it and get the empirical data you can use and decide next. If you are still unsure, then there are hundreds of methods one can use. From meditation to I Ching. All of them work to a certain extent. And life will decide for you at a certain point of life, which is also a way of sorting out non-functional business ideas.
So, I guess I do not have one advice for all. But, try it if you can! ✨
🍥 Luba, as an owner of a modern cafe one needs to be involved into multiple activities connected with social media: FB, Blog, Forums and even Instagram. How do you manage to keep an eye on all the channels, post exciting news and is it really worth your time?
🍰 It is not easy for sure! I think it is worth the hassle, but one has to see what is manageable and maybe make choices. I have clearly made FB my main target, some go for Instagram, some for some other channels. As they say here, you cannot “dance on all the weddings” 😉
🍥 As a mom of a toddler and a business owner you have a lot on your plate right now. How do you manage to juggle so many roles at the same time? Have you found a work-life balance?
🍰 I am always trying to strike the balance between doing the necessary and allowing some luxury. I believe that finding a work-life balance is always a goal, never an achievement. At least otherwise it would be too boring!
🍥 Luba, we love that you share your knowledge around setting up a business as a freelancer. You have created a workshop for anyone making their first steps towards their own venture. Could you tell us a bit more about it?
🍰 At the moment this workshop is running every couple of months in Russian. But I am thinking about starting it also for an English-speaking audience… Quite a few people I knew asked various questions about setting up a business, becoming a freelancer here in Germany. On the other hand I saw how much misinformation is out there in the Russian-speaking circles about this issue. It is really one of the cases where the word of mouth is not necessarily a good thing. That is how I decided to start conducting this kind of workshops. To clear out myths around it.
🍥 Dear Luba, so many @ichselbstaendig community members know your cozy and friendly cafe @ostpost where we very often host our monthly breakfasts, but some of them never met you. Could you please introduce yourself to our wonderful ladies?
🍰 In a nutshell, I come from Vladivostok, the Far East of Russia, and live in Germany for 14 years with several interruptions here and there. Originally earned a degree in teaching and translations, studied here a course similar to cultural management, worked in all sorts of areas before starting my own business.
🍥 How was the concept for ostPost born?
🍰 It all began with my freelancing as a project assistant and a translator for all things Russian. I received various enquiries also for teaching, which I always had to host somewhere in a café. Thus came an idea of an actual physical space. But it was clear to me that, it has to be something with a catch, something more than just a café, more than a place to teach… so, why not unite several elements that would attract all those interested in Eastern Europe? And ostPost was born – a café, a book store and an event space for happenings with Eastern European focus.
🍥 In July 2017 ostPost moved to a new location in Chorinerstr. 84 - a tough spot to be for a cafe: competition is big, amount of tourists and office workers around is little, yet OstPost always seems to have customers inside → What is your secret?
🍰 Well, “always” is definitely a part of my wishful thinking 😄 But yes, I would say we are doing well for this location. I think it is exactly the interesting concept that draws people in.
Dear Ladies 🌸 ,
today we are especially happy to present our #heroine_of_the_week - Luba Kemenova - the founder of our favorite Café in Berlin, which is also a regular space for our monthly Female Entrepreneur Breakfasts - @ostpost.
Luba has taken on a challenging mission - running a physical space in the very competitive region of Berlin - Prenzlauer Berg is tough and demanding by itself. Moreover, ostPost is not only a Café, it is a club for Eastern European culture, a book shop, an event venue and many more.
Plus Luba is combining running her business with being a mother of a toddler - she is always on the run! Organizing events 3-4 timeas a week, serving the customers, training employees, teaching freelance seminars, translating, managing social media, coming up with new concepts - we are always amazed how many things she can juggle simultaneously and always stay a welcoming and smiling hostess!
Luba's story is a clear proof that nothing is impossible for a strong, passionate and determined woman! Read her inspiring interview in the next posts. ✨
Here is a short insight into our interview with @unreadmag 🌸

“Becoming entrepreneurs seemed like a right step for us - but it was overwhelming and intimidating at first. So many unclarities, questions, fears and self-doubt 🙇🏻♀️ We needed support, encouragement and exchange with other female entrepreneurs going similar way. Being both introverts and not fond of large-scale anonymous events we had an idea of creating an “intentional community” (a community with a certain purpose) of like-minded women, where in a small, cozy and friendly round we can share knowledge, get support, work on successful mindset, make contacts, collaborations, and friends 🧞♀️We started to host local meetups and created an Instagram account to shareuseful tips & tricks and inspiring stories. Very soon our project attracted interest of women from other countries. The topics we explore and the knowledge we share are important for female entrepreneurs all over the world - therefore what was once a local initiative now turned into an international project!” - @ichselbstaendig 🌸
