βœ‹πŸ» right everyone. Prepare yourselves for MICROSOFT x Apple πŸ’•
That’s right, M$ were the biggest developer on board when (and before) the original Macintosh was released back in 1984 😲
When I was a kid they were the β€˜enemy’ for having β€˜copied’ the Macintosh interface when they developed Windows. My opinion? Graphical operating systems were inevitable.
Microsoft and Apple have actually worked together many times over the years as well as being rivals ☺️

Said goodbye to this little chap recently, an Apple Tape Backup 40SC. Used way back when to backup computers, probably on an office network.

Finished the capacitor replacement on this Colour Classic logic board πŸ‘πŸ» Soon I’ll have to get around to doing the same on two CC analog boards... which sucks - over 40 capacitors to replace on each! 😭

πŸ› I’m changing the capacitors on one of my Colo(u)r Classics’ logic boards. The logic boards can be easily slid in and out and swapped with other models of Macs such as the LC 575, which helps as CCs are very underpowered and slow Macs 🐒 The analog boards on both of these are very worn out so I’ll be replacing the capacitors on them soon too βœ…

😍 This icon, embossed into the plastic of the original Macintosh keyboard. πŸ‘€ It also looks to me that the mould was made before (and not updated after) Apple decided to switch disk drives from their own β€œTwiggy” drive, which was very unreliable, to Sony’s new 3.5” disk drive. You can tell this by just how wide the drive is - Twiggy disks are 5.25” wide.

I’m lucky to live somewhere with world class museums 😊 Here are some big milestones in the history of the Graphical User Interface, for better or for worse 😜

1️⃣ Xerox Alto II (~1980) 2️⃣ Apple Lisa (1983) 3️⃣ Apple Macintosh (1984) 4️⃣ Microsoft Windows 1.0 (1985)
