After 12 years, we have a new national food guide! 🍏🍕🍤🥙🧀🥔🌽🥭🌶 As dietitians, the new and improved guide has been a long time coming. We’re grateful to those who lent their voices in the revamp process. Speaking up has led to some big important changes. Most noteworthy is the emphasis on HOW TO EAT. Giving advice to ENJOY food, to cook more often, and to share meals with others has been our long-time MO at How to Eat. We’re so pleased to see them included here. They are SO valuable. Do you have questions about the food guide? What do you think of the changes?

More Sheet Pan Meals in 2019! Message received loud and clear😂! What a year 2018 was - filled with lots of food, fun, and Sheet Pan Gnocchi (which made it TWICE into our top 9). Two of our highlights were definitely creating 10 recipes for the @canolaeatwell How To Eat More Veggies Together recipe book and attending the @tastecanadaawards as nominees! (We are still pinching ourselves). We can’t wait to see what 2019 has in store. Here’s to a very healthy, happy, and delicious New Year!🥂
The holiday ‘grazing board’ was a game changer this Christmas! I’ll set the scene... Christmas Eve. A house full of family staying the night. Christmas brunch and dinner still on the horizon. The casual, snack-as-you-please & when-you-please ‘meal’ was a huge hit with grown ups and kiddos. Plus, I got to enjoy my company (and my spiced rum & eggnog) since I wasn’t in the kitchen all night. All the thanks for this brilliant idea goes to our friend and food styling genius @thespicyolive1 who taught a few of us gals how to slay a holiday grazing board a few weeks back. My favourite tip was to relax about having things look orderly and instead place small piles of goodies, somewhat randomly all over the board. GORGEOUS! Thanks to @stonewallkitchen and the team at @brandandbuzz for the delicious education. So...If you’re hemming and hawing over what to do for NYE. Now you know 😉. #stonewallentertaining #onboardscontest

Is there anything that smells better than a freshly baked loaf of banana bread hot out of the oven?!🍌🍞 if you’re looking for something to snack on over the holidays our Banana Bread is the answer. Plus we’ve added chocolate chips. Oh and we should mention that leftovers make excellent French toast. So maybe you should bake up a double batch! Recipe in the #howtoeatblog archives. You know it’s a good day when you go to sleep with a fully belly and full heart🍪❤️. We spent yesterday afternoon at the fanciest cookie exchange EVER sharing laughs, drinks, and of course, food with 8 incredible women who we can now call our friends. Food is so much more than just nutrients, it brings people together, sparks conversation, and nourishes your soul. Oh and did we mentioned we are now proud of owners of all those spectacular looking treats?! Thanks to @stemsandforks for opening her home, bringing us all together, and for this drop dead gorgeous food styling!
