A double whammy post! Thanks to the gorgeous @fashionandstyleedit (well worth a follow for those who need some style and fashion inspo that is mostly very affordable, not to mention she is obviously one of those girls who is beautiful inside and out) I was introduced to the talented @velvetcocos who hand makes the most stunning kimonos. I have one on order already for my birthday party this weekend and will no doubt buy a few more as there are just so many I love and can wear all year round with jeans and a tee or on the beach. Check her out on Etsy and good luck choosing which one to buy 😂😝❤️
I am SUPER excited at the prospect of heading back to the insanely beautiful paradise island of Mustique later in the year with the boy. As many of you saw from my posts a few months back, this really is a picture perfect Caribbean island with flora and fauna to match and The Cotton House serves up everything you could ever possibly need or want from a globally renowned boutique hotel. All my toes and fingers are crossed it happens as I cannot think of a better place to bring in 2019 (omg where has this year gone!?) 🐢❤️🏝✈️
I’m gonna miss this place 😢 After the renovation and hard work to get it to where it is (and still with things to do!) it really has become a home for me. However, change is good and sometimes you just have to let go and adapt and this is exactly one of those situations. Will be very sad to leave this place and neighbourhood, but the pros massively outweigh the cons and that’s a good start 😌
A picture-perfect garden looking over the Thames on sought after Chiswick Mall, just behind our new place. I’ve been exploring today and am currently sat at my soon-to-be new daily coffee stop local, Mari Delicatessen. On a quiet corner with no chains in sight, this authentic Italian cafe even has food (veg, bread, cheese and pasta) flown all the way from Naples to match, along with super friendly staff that instantly make you feel at home between quietly singing Italian songs as they flutter around tidying. What an absolute TREAT ❤️
I am extremely excited to share that an offer was made and has been accepted ❤️ This stunning church is on our new doorstep in an old converted brewery, as is the Thames and a regular weekend farmers market. From Sep 20 I will officially be a West London girl, residing in the creative and community focused cobbled streets of Chiswick. I am over the moon (and a little in shock!) and can’t wait to explore my new hood 🙈❤️😃
Ceeeeellllebrate good times, come on! If there is anything I have learnt from my partner, it’s to be more relaxed, carefree and try to go more “with the flow” (not an easy feat for me!). As an age old planner always organising months in advance, he honestly struggles to commit to book a holiday until the morning we fly 😂 The opposites attract mindset could not be more apt for us as a couple, but the bonus of it all is that we each improve our differing sides. And the best part? No matter how pissed off we get, we end up laughing because at the end of the day that’s all that really matters, right? Someone you can be yourself with and that you learn from. It only gets better that way. Happy Friday peeps and to one of the most stubborn men I know. I sure met my match @richenergy 🤗
Tucked away up an alley under a classic industrial style London bridge, Vauxhall Street Food Garden is a somewhat hidden gem. With just the right amount of trucks (not too many, so not overwhelming) offering an array of cuisines, the food is delicious and the space is not overly busy. Just right for those that want to avoid central areas, but still experience the welcoming and laidback environment this type of haunt provides. Try to go when the sun is out, though it is partially undercover if you’re not bothered by a few raindrops.
A shameless close-up from my expat days. Living abroad seems like forever ago, but having the experiences and exposure to so many different cultures and ways of living is like nothing else. I met so many incredible people and learned so much in the 5 years between Hong Kong, Shanghai, St. Petersburg and Paris (not to mention all the personal travel crammed in between). I cannot recommend taking the leap more to people looking for a fresh experience or an exciting change. Yes it was nerve wracking. Yes it was lonely at times. Yes I missed my family. Yes it was out of my comfort zone. But my god was it up there as some of the best times of my life. As the acronym goes... YOLO 😂❤️💋
Another throwback to one of my favourite countries in the world. Vietnam has so much to offer and every city is unique. This shot was taken on a back street in Hoi An which is the sleepy surfer area... a colourful insight into daily living over there for locals. If you have not yet been, it’s an absolute must for those who love insanely good flavours, deep routed culture and an abundance of variety.
You can find beauty in everything. Don’t be too quick to throw things “away” (i’m sure you are all aware people are currently and aptly questioning this word across social media in relation to sustainability and waste). These are the flowers I bought several days ago and I can’t bring myself to part with them yet, despite the fact the petals are dropping, the colours are browning and the leaves are wilting. Wabi-sabi is such a meaningful notion to me. I learnt about this when living in Asia but for those of you not yet aware, in a nutshell this is the Japanese concept of acceptance of transient states and imperfections, linking back to Buddhist teachings. Look it up. Buy the Leonard Koren publication. It’s worth a read ;)
She’s home :) Could not be happier with my original one of a kind Gucci Calling from the talented @titsandtoess by @jessrosebird, whom I met by chance on my recent visit to Mustique. A talented young Scottish fashion illustrator having worked for the likes of @roksandailincic @delpozo and @etautz she is definitely one to watch. Open to commissions, she also sells a variety of prints at a very affordable price online (starting at a mere 40 quid- you can even get this one). Buy before they go! Thank you so much. I shall love her forever 💕❤️💕
More of my fave places in London... The Albert Bridge. Gorgeous by day, but stunning by night. With great views over to the city and plenty of amazing restaurants near by, it is def worth a visit... I’d head to The Ivy Chelsea Garden for fresh lemon sole, Eight Over Eight for black miso cod or PJ’s for Eggs Benedict (and an extra spicy Bloody Mary- they are incredible here!) 🤗
Sunday in the garden with a Corona and my fave oversized towel. This is a classic case of when I wish I’d bought more than 1 as I just love the print and colour and they look amazeballs in the garden. Maybe I’ll go down the print clash road instead... thoughts!?
Absolutely delighted to be invited to the black tie gala dinner to mark the launch of the V&A Dundee before the museum opens to the public. As a firm supporter of this design feat by the legendary architect Kengo Kuma, I am proud to have contributed to what will be an iconic moment of art and design history. Not to mention what it will do for Scotland and the local community. Can’t wait to see it 🤗 @vadundee @vamuseum
