Guess I made it back home in perfect time — Spent Fri night feasting on umami sounds by The Astronauts and Linying w/ a beer in hand, & Sun night singing along to Charlie Lim’s ‘Bitter’. Get yo volume up to hear their beautiful voices!! Talent abounds in this little island I tell ya 🌼
As of Monday I now officially have a Bachelor of Arts in History to my name! 🌼👩🏻🎓 This journey might have only taken me 3 years to complete, but it’s been a long 21 years for my parents. To be honest, I think I will probably forget how having my name called or how shaking Ed Bryne’s hand felt one day. But I’ll forever cherish the rush I experienced when I caught my family waving like crazy from the furthest corner of the balcony floor the moment I stepped off the stage. From the huge crowd of strangers they were there for me, as they once were the first time I put on a set of graduation robes at age 6. I’ll also always bring with me the beautiful people I’ve come to know & love these past 3 years — Special shout out to the ones in my last pic!!! (Including @usesambali, sorry 4 da undignified crop but your face is featured too!!!) It’s a shame we couldn’t all graduate on the same date, but you guys are truly the reason why London is home. Arc de Aria forever 💛
After several weeks spent with my ass fused to the chair and approximately 10 buckets of coffee later, my undergrad dissertation is finally done and dusted!!! I thank my mom and dad for not freaking out when I was, & the best brudder in the world @wongjs4392 for your superb proofreading skills, for forwarding me clips of PJ Thum’s eye rolls, and for enduring through my butchered attempts at explaining my thesis at least a hundred times without allowing your eyes to glaze over. You even granted me several well-timed “mmhmm”s and affirmative nods. That is impressive, you should consider going into counselling. Also thank you to my @benangse for propping me up even when I assailed you with a barrage of my snotty tears. I’ll be right there to hold a box of Kleenex when it’s your turn next year. Probably will be weeping myself too, we can share. In any case, I am now going to be cautiously optimistic and say.... the end is in sight!!!! 💃🏻💃🏻 (Though several remaining deadlineSss are too)
Forgive the Gratuitous Selfie, but I think I can FINALLY retire the lifelong search for my Perfect Red Lip!! 🙌🏻 The struggle has been real y’all, imma take a moment of silence for my discard pile of failed ventures & wear this to death from now on mmkay
D1 • Scenes in & around our riad // Morocco is dusty and busy, and has in so many ways placed us outside our element. Spent our first day & night navigating our ways around the fiercest hagglers and a million nihaos. We’re slowly getting used to it. Just excited to be in the African continent for the first time ever, and today, we are desert-bound!!!
I’m officially convinced of the utility of life-size cardboard cut-outs now. Suitable for clothes hanging and standing in for missing persons in group photos. And I assume for scaring off burglars as well. Anyone got one pls send one my way this Christmas thx • also good job errbadi for flailing on the floor v enthusiastically in the name of charades &&& @amelllllllllia is the bestest!!! • miss production v v much 🙆🏻♀️
5 years!! Elapsed between the taking of these 2 photos! And I still regret that pose v much tq......... (I cant explain the crotch grabbing) So happy to see @__jeslyn again, even if it was for just a short while 💛 Pretty surreal to think we’re adults capable of crossing the pond ourselves now, when we were all once a couple of 15 year olds dying over 197(??)-page proposals & dreaming of NY...!
In my 2 & 1/4 years of living here, I’ve done little to honour the mundane, so here are a few boring bits of life I treasure // leaves that crinkle beneath my feet as I sprint to my 9ams • this lovely yellow brick wall that always cuts through the drabness of my morning commute • oxford street, eerily quiet on a Sunday morning & almost too eager for Christmas to come • golden rays that cloak the city when the sun sets (though I constantly wish it weren’t so early) • and how the city lights slowly rouse at dusk (which I honestly don’t stop to admire enough)
Assembled a small motley crew of VVIPs to celebrate my early 21st with, though I was missing a few. Thanks to everyone for being part of my warm and cozy affair, and for making this summer a little harder to say goodbye to than the last, each in your own way. Especially to my family and Ben for scrambling around to help me in spite of my impromptu plans last week!! I don't know how I got so lucky. But I do know that the next year will fly by in no time. With much love, take care & we'll meet again much sooner than ya think! ❤️👋🏻
