One of my favorite memories from this year...a captive lynx moves slowly towards me at the Yukon Wildlife Preserve. My parents gave me a beautiful picture of a lynx as a little girl and since then I’ve dreamed of seeing one up-close... #bucketlist #lynx #yukon #lynxcat #lynxofinstagram #lynxlove #yukonwildlifepreserve #canada #whitehorseyukon #nature #naturephotography #muenchworkshops #canon #canonphotography #natgeo #natgeoyourshot #winterwildlife #wildlifephotography #wildlife #animalsofinstagram #lynxofinstagram #amidreaming

Living along the Rio Grande, hearing coyotes yipping and howling is a common occurrence at night. You never know how many are making noise due to the beau geste effect where because of the variety of the sounds and the way the sound is distorted passing through the environment, a few coyotes can sound like a huge pack. Many years ago, I did see a pack of 6 while out running, I looked at them...they looked at me and we all went our separate ways. What I rarely see is a coyote howling during the day, other than an occasional yip, I’ve found them to be very quiet. This one, however, was very vocal. From a good distance away, I heard him while out walking the dogs. I went a little closer to see what the ruckus was about. He looked at us then went about yipping and howling. I don’t think he was guarding a kill, maybe just looking for his tribe...aren’t we all? Swipe left to see him howling. Not the sharpest photos but thankful to even get a shot off considering 4 large extremely excited dogs were in one hand and my camera in the other. #coyotes #riogrande #newmexico #nmtrue #newmexicotrue #coyote #bestofnewmexico #onlyinnm #wildlifeofnewmexico #wildlifephotography #wildlife #greatest_newmexico #riverlife #nmwildlife #nature #naturephotography #canon #featurenewmexico #coyotesofinstagram #animal #animalsofinstagram #southwestwildlife #nmnomad #canonwildlifephotography #ilovenewmexico #beaugesteeffect #howl

Seeing snow on the Sandias this morning reminded me of a trip earlier this year to the Yukon Territory where snow was abundant! Had so much fun dogsledding, seeing my first lynx at the Yukon Wildlife Preserve and watching these two sibling Arctic foxes rolling around in the white stuff. Would love to wake up to a few inches here. C’mon Mother Nature...bring it:-) #snow #arcticfox #yukon #whitehorse #canada #arcticfoxes #ilovesnow #animals #animalsofinstagram #canada #tbt #yukonwildlifepreserve #wildlife #wildlifephotography #canon #canonphotography #muenchworkshops #natgeo #natgeoyourshot #mothernature #nature #snow❄️ #snowfun #sandiamountains

Instead of being boggled down by minutia today, I’d rather reflect on the big picture. I’ve joked that the Aurora Borealis was a scam to lure unsuspecting Southerners up to the frozen tundra. However, I did get to see it this year on two occasions so I have to admit it does exist. Makes me wonder what else exists that I’ve questioned? Looking at this photo, I was puzzled by the green ball seemingly falling from the sky? Camera glare, bad post processing (that couldn’t be it 😉) or have the little green men come to take us away? And why are they supposedly green...isn’t Mars the red planet? Deep thoughts Tuesday...haha:-) Taken in Katmai, Alaska where we had a brief but beautiful showing! #enjoytoday #aurora #auroraborealis #northernlights #frozentundra #katmainationalpark #katmai #katmainps #brookscamp #space #spacethefinalfrontier #nakneklake #reflections #naknek #littlegreenmen #mars #space #bigpicture #deepthoughts #happytuesday
