Mental health can affect anyone any day of the year. It is a serious issue that is neglected the majority of the time in our country and in the world. Take time to decompress and do a self check. Then ask those around you how they are and see how you can help them. Mental health problems don’t define who you are. They are something you experience. Whether you know someone with Alzheimer’s, bipolar disorder, anxiety, etc. be present and support them. The smallest actions sometimes speak the loudest.
By sharing our stories, we can find new common ground and understanding to support one another. I am bipolar and have ocd. It has not always been a walk in the park, but you make light of the hand you are dealt. I have lost friends to depression thru suicide. I have seen close friends loose their memories and thoughts. We all aren’t perfect, but that is what makes life interesting.
You are your best advocate. Don’t be afraid to admit when you need to take time for your own mental health.
