I am not sure if travelers heard of Portuguese village in town, or not really, or may be, just didn't get here, since it's kind of far from city center, at least by walking )) Could it be something an "advertisement" can fix?! πŸ—ΊπŸ’‘πŸ€”πŸ˜€

If I remember it correctly, the original color of the Studhuys under the Dutch rule was white! Apparently, British (????) somehow repainted it in this color under their "administration" in town.... So why wasn't it repainted back in white, it's original color? Oh, mysteries )))) πŸ—ΊπŸ’‘πŸ˜²πŸ€” P.S. Who knows all the details? Let us know here! βœ”οΈβœŒπŸ» #funfacts

Have you been or heard of Melaka before? What would you like to know about this part of the world? Leave your questions in the comments section, I'll try to answer them the best I can, and from international perspective! πŸ—ΊπŸŒΊπŸ’‘πŸ€”πŸ˜€βœŒπŸ»

Studhuys is in the prime location in town! Near museums, promenade, shopping centers and Jonker Street, as if overlooking what exactly is going on in city center πŸ—ΊπŸ’‘πŸ˜€βœŒπŸ»

Is this the most unusual currency you've seen?! If only it mentioned approximate value in current references.... like what could you actually buy with it? And who came up with these unusual "coins"?πŸ’‘πŸ˜²πŸ€”πŸ˜€ P.S. There was another display with "alligator money", but I figured this was way cuter and more positive! Just "picture" it πŸ˜€βœŒπŸ»

Stadthuys, or current History Museum, might not be known for its riches, but it has this mystery item?! and a few rarity items as well. Additionally, this was location of the former Dutch administration in town, and is considered as one of the oldest buildings around, hence, its importance and value for the city.
So what is this "mystery" item? The sign says it is Makara, a mystical animal with body of fish and trunk of elephant, but apparently, (local?) historians still don't know how it got there, what was its purpose, and supposedly, this is the only Makara in the whole peninsula?! Can anyone help out with more info???? πŸ—ΊπŸ’‘πŸ€”βœŒπŸ» P.S. Nope, I wouldn't call it an elephant /fish, and especially not "European dolphin".... Like how? From which angle are you looking?? πŸ˜²πŸ˜€

I don't know about other months, but August seemed fine ) Mostly sunny, and plenty of places with air-con/fans to walk, chat, read and lounge around during the day. Plus, it rained mostly at night, so it was definitely very convenient πŸ—ΊπŸ’‘πŸ˜€βœŒπŸ» P.S. I don't know how they do it, but if you are not used to it, definitely pack something light. I doubt there is a "dress code" around here, especially for travelers.... at least I've seen everything, or "just look at this girl, or guy!" πŸ˜€βœŒπŸ»

During my travels in Kotor I was told that "drought" is not a good sign, since it was raining a lot during my travels there. Supposedly, meaning that it was a good sign, especially for the upcoming summer )))) So what do you think of places without parks and greens? What kind of sign is this? πŸ—ΊπŸ’‘πŸ€”βœŒπŸ»

If you follow river bank in the opposite direction of the city center, it is more nature-friendly, but not as nature-friendly as it seems and should have been.... I mean, this could have been a park πŸ’šπŸŒΊπŸ˜€βœŒπŸ»
