Pressure prints! Thanks to Leslie Smith at @sawtoothschool for adapting the technique to an etching press. In a nutshell: fully inked plexi plate on bottom, paper in middle, design plate on top. Tricky to line up edges of the inked plate and the design plate with the paper sandwiched between them, but still works great! ➡️ 1st photo is after one run through press, 2nd photo adds a ghost of inverted design, 3rd photo is the design plate.
Learned an interesting monotype technique at @sawtoothschool Print Group last night. Manipulate liquid pigment (we used Akua) on the plate and then brayer on black intaglio ink thickened with magnesium chloride powder. Run it through the press on very light pressure. Makes some interesting effects.
I am overwhelmed by the beauty and creativity of January’s #areyoubookenough submissions. It was an honor to participate this month. Thank you for the inspiration and warm community @inkandawl It was most difficult to select 9 favorites! 📚
