saying goodbye to the beach. for now
wearing ALL the swag from the #charlestonhalfmarathon I was not at all sure that I was going to reach my goal for this race. I trained SO hard, then started to break down a little at the end. But my coach (and love) @jeff_multisport has taught me so much about digging deep and not giving up. and about faith. I surprised myself, and I will know going forward that I can do it again. I AM stronger than I think I am. So are you. #runtheracesetbeforeyou
I took this as a sign to finish my very short jog to get my legs moving this am. My race is in 48 hours, and I am struggling with a quad/hip injury that hasn’t bothered me in *years*. After all my training these past few months, I have been expecting to crush my goals for this race - setting a new personal record for the half marathon. Now it’s not a sure thing at all. Gearing up - and stretching! - for an adventure. and hoping this sign won’t come up again... #charlestonhalfmarathon #itsallinyourhead #mentalgame #runtheracesetbeforeyou
Getting ready for the #charlestonhalfmarathon on Saturday, freaking out just a bit about some pain in my leg, I started ‘Marie Kondo’ing’ all my belongings, organizing everything. And then I found this - the threadbare t-shirt from my very first 10k, 30 years ago. It started on Haines Point, right on the Potomac in DC, and it started snowing quite heavily just before we started. it was really coming down when the race began. The race organizers gave us little jingle bells to lace in our shoes, so when we all set out there was the silence of snow, and the muffled sound of hundreds of little jingles, like Santa’s sleigh itself. This was also a time before technical fabrics, so our cotton sweats became leaden and icy as we barreled on. I don’t remember my time for that race, but I do remember the beauty, pain, camaraderie, and unique experience of running one. And how so very much I loved it. #runninglove #runningjoy #runningfriends #justrun #basicrunning #explorefitness
