two self portraits, four years apart. those who make self portraits in any medium know how jarring it is to see two from different lifetimes next to each other (the past five years have felt like a hundred) up at Anderson Contemporary Gallery in Manhattan ❤️❤️

Being on a train makes me think about every other time I’ve been on a train, it’s a nostalgic place. This one in particular reminded me of when I went backpacking around Europe as a 21 year old alone and found myself in the mountains of Switzerland, feeling a lot of doubt and now I’m here, feeling less of that. I think trains act as liminal spaces that force us to reconnect with ourselves momentarily until we get to where we are going and get on with what we are trying to do

Documented my most recent series of paintings, they’re headed to an 8 week long group show titled “Lineage” at Linda Matney gallery in Williamsburg, Virginia from July 13th onwards. I don’t know how to put into words well what I’m on about, that’s why I’m a painter. I think body language is the most honest language. all the femmes portrayed have some sort of guard up, a limb protecting their core, a foot or knee distancing themselves, yet the gaze is resilient. It may reflect the way I’ve felt lately, but I believe once a painting is finished it doesn’t quite belong to me anymore, it belongs to you 💐

When I spent a week climbing above the clouds of the highest peak of Africa, mount Kilimanjaro. The last photo is the woman who birthed me on the summit at 7:30am after an alpine start that began at 10pm. I haven’t felt more alive than I did on this mountain and I think about it every day. can’t believe I’m lucky enough to have a family that wants to do this insane shit together. I also got to experience firsthand the melting ice caps of our seven summits. Ten years ago, Kilimanjaro was almost entirely glacial once you got above the clouds. Now, the glacier in the third photo is all that’s left. While we are all trying to lessen our daily impact we may as well find the tallest peaks and the deepest forests to appreciate Mother Earth while she’s still here
