Sunday vibes while chilling with my husband in Traverse City this weekend! It is so important to get away from the office, even for a few days to recharge and refresh! What is the best way that you find to recharge? #sundayvibes
A quick stop at the famed Shakespeare and Co in Paris! Of course, I had to buy a book while there. The bells of Notre Dame were ringing mightily in the background, as we drank up the history of the wonderful place. @shakespeareandcoparis #shakespeareandcompany

Hey there, book lovers! The stylish black box I am holding represents six months of a product development project for our new collection of literary wine glasses and rocks glasses. This box has tested my patience, questioned my sanity and proved, once again, how stubborn I can be. All of this because I have a vision of how I would like my ‘brand’ to look and be perceived. .
While researching another product, I was sent a beautiful black matte 2 piece telescoping box. I became obsessed with this box and I had to have it for our new barware. I contacted the company that sent it to me and they weren’t willing to share their manufacturing source. All they said was that they were made in the US and they usually bought 10,000 units at a time. .
Now wouldn’t it be nice people shared their sources? We are in completely different industries and it made no sense. I googled and called so many companies trying to find someone to make this box for us. I contacted consultants in my industry to ask for help and two of the three never even returned my emails or phone calls. .
In the ensuing months, I decided to order other boxes that might work for the project, but alas I was hellbent on this one box. Hence the many other boxes in the photo!
Finally, I found one company that could make them! I had already received the wine glasses and rocks glasses in our warehouse and I felt desperate to get the packaging resolved. So I ordered 5,000 custom boxes from Michigan City Box Company in Indiana. See, there is my source. Was that so hard?! I paid more than I wanted to and I wasn’t even sure where we were going to store that many boxes. And... it would take 5-6 weeks to make them. More tears.
Long story short. We finally have our boxes and the product looks great in them. They are beautiful. Did I go crazy doing it. Yep. Especially when they did an overrun of 748 boxes which cost an additional $590! But that is the nature of our game in the wholesale industry. We want our products to look their best on the shelves of our retailers and there is a lot of time and money involved in that. .
Thank you for listening. #doingmybest
