“It's an amazing opportunity for me to fight Claressa Shields, it's one that I wanted so I am thrilled that we have got it. It's going to be a fantastic fight, we both have aggressive come-forward styles, so I am looking forward to putting that into action as I think we've got one hell of a fight here.” - @team_rankin talks to FFF on her upcoming fight with @claressashields.⠀
"Despite the fact that fighting is an historically male-dominated and violent sport, the studios I have frequented have all surprisingly felt like safe spaces...There is something powerful about walking out of class after putting all your strength and energy into just hitting something for an hour. And that's the point."⠀

I believe martial arts is a metaphor for life, with the biggest lesson of all being that you become the best when you are the most ‘you.’ Martial arts forces you to see you. Be you. Love you.
The best kind of fighter is one who is their best self. Trying to mimic someone else’s style or game doesn’t ever work, because everyone has a different body, skill set, size. No two fighters are the same, so no two approaches can be the same, either. You have to learn what attributes you have, as well as identify your weaknesses, and then work to amplify your strengths while minimizing your shortcomings.
There is only one you.
You are the best you there ever could be.
That’s strength if I’ve ever seen it.-- https://www.femalefightfans.com/articles/2018/8/16/8-reasons-to-train-martial-arts-no-matter-who-you-are
Fighting is hard- that’s why it’s called fighting. You have to overcome ease and lean into resistance. You have to ignore pain and keep pushing forward 👊🏻🥊🥊. It takes EVERYTHING you have to keep going. It’s mental, it’s physical. It takes strength and heart 💖, persistence 😬, and patience 🙏🏻. It’s why I love it- because it takes everything you have. You have to show up, be present, and overdeliver. You have to literally do more than you think you can, give more than you think you have, go farther than you deem possible. 💙It’s making the impossible, possible 💙

From day one, I’ve found martial arts to be incredibly empowering.⠀
It’s not really about fighting, or hurting someone, or physical prowess: it’s about pushing past your own limitations and finding out what you’re really made of.⠀
New post on why you, yes YOU should do martial arts. Link in our bio. 😀 😉
