Here I am, melting, exhausted and happy after the first performance. It has been one of the most challenging experiences in my career, I'm glad for the audience response and for all the work we've done together. The project will be now developed in Europe for 2 years.
Performing "The discourse" by Cocoloco in Galle. Trevor and Helen asked us to read out loud a book in our mother language. I chose "The baron in the trees" by Italo Calvino, one of my favorites. We created a lovely relationship with the audience, I really enjoyed the experience. Thanks Cocoloco!
The Snowball Effect will be presented tonight at Suramedura. This is the final event of this 6 weeks residency. I've been invited to produce a format that will be developed in 2019 and tour Europe in 2020. It has been challenging and inspiring, we now have a lot of very good material to develop, looking for a universal language to talk about communities, borders, identity, prejudice.
Final part of workshop with the kids in Dodanduwa. @fabricedeperrois invited them to create their dream village. The atmosphere on the beach was special, everyone enjoyed the activity. Thank you guys! 😊
Close encounter swimming with a turtle few days ago. When I saw her I thought "Wow, it's huge! And so cute", but when she looked at me I felt like I was staring into the eyes of E.T. or of a dinosaur 🦕 That's the frame of a moment I loved
This little girl stopped me while I was walking on the beach. She grabbed my hand, smiled at me with sparkling eyes, then started pouring water on me and playing with my beard. She also raised her tiny hand to stop the sea and take water to keep playing. I have a new barber now 💔
Today we had a free day, and I went visiting a local family with @fana.ana and @sitaiona
We had a great time, and visited a turtle hatchery involved in a conservation project. A 3 days old tiny turtle fell asleep on my hand, and it was so sweet 😭
Energy refilled for tomorrow, we start developing the second part of the performance 💪🏻
The Snowball Effect project grows every day. We're working on the the idea of community and identity. One of the activities will be building a village with the public, and Fabrice is taking care of it.
