In Elizabeth Gilbert’s book “Big Magic,” she writes about inspiration and creativity, then the magic involved that brings those big ideas into reality. Two years ago I wouldn’t have believed I’d be leading a yoga retreat—I just knew I wanted to share my love of yoga and build a bigger and brighter yoga community. I asked the question: What is possible? And was told: EVERYTHING is possible. Now that I’ve just completed what can only be described as a truly magical experience with the incredible women of the Restore Yourself Retreat, I am manifesting my dream of leading a yoga retreat in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. I hope you will join me. The link to info is in my bio. #amazingplaces#yogaretreat#yogainperu#machupicchu#sacredvalley#2019#bigmagic
I learned how beautiful the shift is when I assisted teacher training last month. I’m talking about the shift in perspective, in mindset, in paradigm. The shift is what happens when one is willing to be open enough to embrace change. I had the blessing of witnessing the shift in each of the incredible yoginis of the Restore Yourself Retreat. Each person made a shift; some appeared larger than others, but every shift is truly on the scale of the Grand Canyon because paradigm shifts are simply not what everyone is willing to accomplish. One has to let down one’s guard, listen & hear, see & be seen, & then, after all of that, leap into faith into a new way of being. This is huge. The shift is also contagious. One cannot witness shift & not shift (unless one is emotionally or spiritually dead, perhaps). My shift was from thinking “I’m going to lead a retreat and I hope that everyone who comes leaves better than I found them” to “I will journey with yogis on their path to healing, empowerment, and manifestation of their best lives at home and elsewhere; everything is possible.” .
Recently I requested some things that I didn’t get for which I felt qualified. I was irked initially, then asked: what is this ‘no’ telling me? It’s telling me that my goals & purpose are bigger than that small request; that what I bring to the table may not be seen by everyone, but by the ones who need to see it; and that I am not meant to be confined to a limited existence. My ask was too small—too limited to my old way of being, which was neatly nestled in my comfort zone. Every time I step outside of my comfort zone MAGIC happens. So I will continue stepping into that, which is scary & elusive because it requires great faith. So in the spirit of FAITH & MANIFESTING my wildest dreams, I am announcing that I will be leading an annual retreat—2019 will be in the Sacred Valley, Peru at the end of May or June. Absolutely nothing logistical is sorted, yet I know my steps have been ordered. This is my shift—faith before finalities. I hope you’ll join me on the journey.
“Rain is cleansing,” Linda stated on our first full day together. We had evenings full of the cleansing rain, which made the sun-filled moments much richer. The one night we had no rain was so quiet, we missed it. Here are some moments captured of us enjoying our surroundings, being fed healing food (especially the bitter cane @leniecm enjoyed, which is a natural back pain reliever), and the last of our troop arriving into Houston. Good times. ❤️❤️😍 #costarica 🇨🇷 #restoreyourselfretreat#yogaeverydamnday#yogateacher#yogacommunity#puertoviejo#tohoustonwithlove
Last days in Bocas included interactions with jellyfish and starfish, sunny days, and amazing food. In the last photo, @leniecm is about 100ft from Costa Rica as I take the photo from Panama. The old, rickety bridge in the background is what I crossed the last time I made this trek. Glad it’s a thing of the past! #panama 🇵🇦 #bocasdeltoro#vacation#amazingplaces#centralamerica#teachersofinstagram
I’m finally getting around to uploading more pics from our time abroad. Here, we were fascinated by the Panama Canal. Truly, it’s an experience. Big ups to our uber driver who was an off-duty tour guide who became our private guide that day and for timelapse video. #panama 🇵🇦 #Miraflores#panamacanal#scienceisawesome
#LoveBombBingo2018 — @leniecm and I LOVE this game. It personally challenges you to commit deeply to your practice for its duration. This year, it’s only 2 weeks—2 weeks to complete this card while teaching my own classes and finishing my 500HR certification. I’ve never shied away from a challenge, but I have to admit, this one will take hella commitment. Are you in? Let’s do this! @yogaworks_houston #yogacommunity#yogaeverydamnday#yogateacher#yogachallenges
Woot! Getting this party started! I LOVE Love Bomb Bingo—it’ll be a challenge this time around, but I’m going to BLACK. OUT! Come meet me and take a class. Work your bingo card! #LoveBombBingo2018 @yogaworks_houston
And on the 4th day we learned from the Bri Bri. The have set up a sanctuary for poison dart red frogs that is full of the beautiful creatures. We learned all about jungle plants and their medicinal properties, AND we learned how to make chocolate! Our guide was the man. We hope to see him again! #restoreyourselfretreat#costarica 🇨🇷 #puertoviejo#puravida#yogisinthejungle
A cat has decided my blanket is his/her bed. S/he’s too cute to refuse, so I’ve decided to let her do what she wants to do. A part of this retreat process has been practicing what I preach. So my big questions are: How and when do I surrender, and how and when do take time for me? This entire retreat (how it came together and the people participating) has been evidence of kismet. I’ve decided to surrender forcing my hand in things. So the ladies of the retreat have decided where we’re going next year. I’m not going to announce it yet, but I figure those conversations didn’t happen by accident. I guess I’m becoming more Taoist in nature in letting God and letting go. Our steps are ordered... #yogaretreat#restoreyourselfretreat#meditationsoeditations#ruminations#ramblings#listenandknow#yogacommunity#yogawithcats#bettertogether#ubuntu
