A couple setbacks in my routine threw everything off this morning and now the 7,000 outfits I tried on are piled on this chair. This is exactly why I pick out an outfit the night before 🤦🏽♀️. I usually let mornings like this spiral and get into my head but seriously, in the grand scheme of things, who cares. These are the vintage-inspired jeans I got from @oldnavy. If you love the vintage jean trend but have a hard time finding a flattering fit at secondhand stores, these are a great alternative and they fit tts. (Tap on trends I love in my profile).
These shoes are hands down the best thrift purchase I’ve made this summer. They are @charlesdavidshoes. I got them brand new for $3 at VDO. They are ridiculously comfy and actually fit my postpartum feet! About 95% of my old shoes still don’t fit after I had my baby. Wide mules and slides are where it’s at. #aintnoscorelikeathriftstorescore
Read a great article recently in @real_simple about family mottos. Do you have one in your family? I remember growing up we were always reminded to properly greet people anytime we enter a room. Greetings are definitely a big thing in Arab culture.
Finding that “sweet spot” when it comes to postpartum style can be challenging. Maybe you gained or lost a lot of weight, or you’re recovering from a painful delivery, or your body shape has permanently changed.
TBH, I watch the videos in my mom groups about loving your new body and as much as I champion other moms to feel that way, I’m not quite there yet. I think it’s incredible that my body grew a human but I’d be lying if I said it’s not a big change physically and mentally.
Anyway, most of the time I feel totally blah about trying things on. But its so important to allow yourself that time when you’re thrift shopping. First: it’s a great place to shop on a serious budget during this transition period. And second, you just never know with the sizing. Everything I picked that was “my size” didn’t fit. But the one thing I thought wouldn’t fit, did. I share this because we all need that one small win sometimes. And being so hard on ourselves is just exhausting. Take 5 minutes tonight to pick out an outfit that will make you feel confident tomorrow, and head to the blog for tips that helped me throughout this transition! #allsecondhand
I try to keep things pretty light around here but this has been really weighing on me. When I saw this article with the baby’s hands (swipe) it was like a punch to the gut. They reminded me so much of my baby’s hands (swipe again). Our lawmakers have become so partisan, they’ve become numb to humanity. I swear every time I see a new headline I feel like I’m watching an episode of Game of Thrones unfold in real life. As a child of immigrants, a new mom, and just as a human being (!) this hits really close to home. All I can think about is how desperate these mothers and children must feel. I miss my daughter terribly when I’m at work, 15 minutes down the road. Can you imagine the pain these mothers are feeling? With that, I’ve been hugging her extra tight lately. And kissing those hands extra hard too. Hug your loved ones and consider making a donation or volunteer your services to one of the many organizations, both locally and nationally helping the families who’ve been torn apart by this chaos.
If you’re new to this space, hi! Thanks for stopping by. I’m Dina and I blog about treasure hunting, motherhood, and living colorfully in Ohio. If you need a little inspiration (or if you’re bored and have some time to kill in a waiting room 😜 ) there’s a decade’s worth (literally) of thrift tips and inspiration on my blog. Here’s a completely useless fact: I almost always catch the shrimp when they toss it at Hibachi restaurants 🍤 #skillspaythebills
