OPHELIA | F | 3 Y | Jack Russell Terrier Mix | 14 lbs | Medium energy | Super snuggly l Getting over Separation Anxiety | Loves attention | Working on the basics | Dog social | Likely ok with cats | Not kid tested
Meet OPHELIA… and no she will not grow into those ears. Isn’t she cute though? She totally looks like she’s related to Dobby from Harry Potter. OPHELIA is a straight up cuddle monster and she LOVES attention. She bonds easily with her people and it’s not long before she’s snuggled up next to you or casually licking your toes… which she thinks is a very appropriate form of affection. She’s chill in the home and is comfortable in a smaller living space. If she’s not snoozing the day away she’s likely just chewing her bone somewhere near you, which she’ll then hide cause it’s her most prized possession and she needs to guard it with her life. She doesn’t really understand the concept of toys yet but is starting to learn how to play fetch with her kibbles. She’s medium energy overall but with the JRT in her, she does enjoy running around. A home with a backyard would be great but isn’t absolutely necessary as long as she has an opportunity to visit a secure area to run around regularly. OPHELIA is getting over her separation anxiety -- but the routine her foster parents have enforced will need to continue into adoption so she doesn't lose confidence/independence and build it again. She is crate trained and generally makes noises when you leave but now settles, whereas before she would bark. Continuing crating at night and during the day when you are away will help continue the process of getting over her SA. She doesn’t really have a lot of street sense and has a strong desire to chase after smaller creatures and cars so off leash is not recommended until she improves her focus and recall. She does have a prey drive but met a cat briefly and was interested but not overly excited or vocal. With a proper introduction and some time we think she would be cool with a feline pal. She can be a little bit skittish around other dogs at first but is genuinely interested in interacting with them!
Star 💜 #Repost @tender_hearts_rescue_canada (@get_repost)
Meet our beautiful girl STAR! ✨Star is a 2 year old shih tzu mix with the biggest brown eyes that will just steal your heart. Star will do best in a home with another friendly dog as she LOVES to play! She makes us giggle with her hide and seek games as she loves to hide under the bed with her little wiggly tail sticking out. Star is medium energy so a fenced in yard is a big bonus for this little love bug. Long walks and dog park visits are also ideal for Star as she LOVES her walks and LOVES to play with other dogs. Star is very well behaved, house broken, loves to play, and LOVES to snuggle. She'll wiggle her little body right up next to ya and just sleep. Star is great with other dogs (engages in gentle play) but she does display some mild aggression if another dog goes into her food bowl during meal time, so it's best to feed Star separately. Star found herself on the kill list for no fault of her own and it still blows our mind that she was scheduled to be euthanized. But we pulled her and life in a scary high kill shelter is in her past and this sweet girl is just so happy she's been given a second chance. She lives life to the fullest and loves with her whole heart.
If you're interested in meeting Star please send an email to email@example.com
Star is spayed, micro chipped, and all shots are up to date. She's in good health.

HAPPY GILMORE | M | 1 Y | Chihuahua mix | 15 lbs | Los Angeles | Low energy | Quiet and chill | Cuddle monster | Adaptable | Needs basic training | Good with small dogs | Ok with cats | Not kid tested
What’s up HAPPY GILMORE? This little Chi mix is ready for his home… is it you? HAPPY is pretty flexible in terms of your schedule and will adjust well to most living environments. He loves people and is happy to see you even if you’ve only been gone for two minutes. He can be a little bit nervous in new situations and was a little apprehensive when first arriving to Toronto but the best thing for him is continued exposure. For example, you can take him to your new ‘hood, sit and chill for a bit and just let him take in the sights and sounds. As a result he should NOT be off leash in the foreseeable future. Loud noises still make him nervous so this is definitely a work in progress. He’s also a bit fearful of men, like Shooter McGavin cause let’s be honest that guy was awful, so it’s best to let him make the first move. When being introduced to new people they should act like everything is normal and when HAPPY is ready to check them out he’ll come around. Basic commands are going very slowly with HAPPY because he is not treat or toy motivated. He may occasionally be interested in a Kong stuffed with kibbles. The best way to motivate him is likely praise and affection, so these should be used as training tools going forward. He does very well in a crate but isn’t too destructive in the home either. He is interested in your garbages though and will search for tissues to tear apart if you’re not watching him. Also, your socks occasionally. He’s pretty low energy but does appreciate a few good walks per day plus bathroom breaks. He does try to chase squirrels but responds well to correction. HAPPY is ok with other small dogs but is afraid of bigger dogs and will bark at them in defense. He lives with two cats and they’re cool so far. Ready to meet HAPPY GILMORE? Cheesy 💙🧀 #Repost @saveourscruff (@get_repost)
CHEESY was babysat over the weekend in Toronto! He is looking for a foster and/or adopter. Please DM us if you are interested!! "He was such a sweetheart. He was happy to say hi to every person and dog that he met. He was super playful and gentle. I live right downtown and he did really good with all the street noise. Was a bit nervous about the streetcars but nothing extreme. Hewasfine inside my apartment too but did react to some of the noise in the hallway. I'm right by the elevator though so it can be a lot. If I grabbed his attention before he started barking he wouldn't, but he wouldn't be ideal for all apartments because his bark is pretty loud. (K, we actually think he's part wolf). He did bark at the two events when he was a by overwhelmed and also for attention. But he calmed down towards the end and I took him for lots of walks around the store which kept him quiet. As he started to get a bit more comfortable with me, he did get more vocal asa way to ask for toys and attention. He had a lot of energy too! He wasn't bouncing off the walls or anything but just wanted to play and be loved. Even after the event on Saturday, we got home and he was not into my plan of napping and wanted to play. He loves fetch!! Loves it! Anyway he is so sweet and I know he will find the right people to love him!!" Ellie 💜😘 #Repost @emmasdogrescue (@get_repost)
ELLIE is available for adoption! She is about 11 months old, is spayed, microchipped and up to date on all shots. Ellie is looking for a home with another dog. She seems to be much more confident and at ease around other dogs. When she's not with another dog, she has certain triggers that cause a reaction and it definitely stems from being insecure or feeling unsafe. When she's out of the city, these triggers seem to not exist, so it's safe to say that she's much happier with more room to run. If you are wanting to adopt Ellie, and you have a backyard and another dog, please send an email to inquire. Thanks so much!!🐶 #adoptdontshop#love#pickme#rescuedog#instadog#dog#dogs#dogrescue#ontariodogrescue#ontario#toronto#gta#adoptme#love#fureverhome#doggy#puppy

ARTHUR l 12Y l 45lbs l Dalmatian Mix l Low to no Energy/Stamina l Gentle Soul l V well Socialized w Dogs l Being fostered in Oshawa l Looking for Foster-to-Adopt l Partially Blind & Deaf
This old dude is just figuring out plenty of fish and here is what he had to say about himself to find his special place. "I may be 12 years old but don't write me off just yet. I do enjoy doing absolutely nothing most of the time but also get playful bursts where I'd love a good ol' goofy pal to jump around with. I may also like being the boss most of the time but that's only cause I'm scared you'll break my hip if we party your way too much. My friends say I'm a "loveable, gentle soul" but I see myself more as someone who knows what's important in life and that's being nice to the people who feed me and give me the best dog bed ever. I also had some scary moments with vetting which has been all cleared but made me appreciate those around me. Moving along.. 80% of my day involves naps if you want to come chill. I also enjoy the mannequin challenge as most of the time I forget what I'm doing and need some time to regain momentum... to probably find and lay in my dog bed.. I see myself settling down into a bungalow in my near future and really just being a backyard/dog bed kind of guy. I'm just looking for someone to share my space with, maybe pull up a rocker next to me and just enjoy the sunset. I'm not much of a "kid guy" if that's your sort of jam, I prefer the quiet and calm life. Although I'm very sweet and don't mind if they come to visit every so often. Eat, go outside, get a couple pets, and sleep is all I need. I kind of lose my mind and bounce around excitedly until you put my bowl on the floor. I do although like my food to be mine so don't think you can sneak your fork into my bowl anytime soon. Food time is actually my fav.. So yeah, after all that, if you'd like to take me home please apply to adopt by filling in an adoption application at saveourscruff.org" Please note that if you read this and are looking for a jogging partner and still want to apply... YOU MUST BE WACKO... Check out his full bio and apply
Ricker 😎💙 #Repost @caninehaven (@get_repost)
Please meet RICKER, who is looking for his forever home. Ricky was found in early July, on the streets of Nepal and his back end was completely paralyzed. He came to Toronto August 23 & had minimal strength movement in his back legs. He is now able to go for long walks, started running, going up and down stairs and is really on his way! He is likely between 1-2 years old. The spinal x-ray showed a buldging disk which must have been pinching a nerve BUT he is 95% better than he was when he was found. He will be neutered & he is UTD. He needs a home with no other animals (especially cats, but we are working on training with him to get over his anxiety so he can feel more comfortable with other dogs). He is friendly and loving with all children and adults. He is house broken. He loves people, he knows how to smile (with his teeth in a friendly manner) he is very inactive, he loves to sleep and get all the attention. Please get in touch if you would like to meet him or require any more info!
