I worked in the NFL for the Oakland Raiders for two years from age 21-23 while getting a Masters Degree in Sports Management. Five months after arriving in the USA without knowing anyone, I was working on the sidelines of the SUPER BOWL for NFL Media Services. It was a dream. But, while having a job thousands of people wanted, something didn't feel right inside me. I felt I had to leave the dream job and a golden opportunity. Ten years later, I returned to Raiders Training Camp, where it all started and knew the instant I arrived that I made the right decision. THE LESSON: follow your feelings. You'll know if something is right or wrong and you can only find your best self when you follow how you feel. Also...Go Raiders!
Be yourself. Disregard other’s expectations of you. Celebrate and focus on the things you are great at. Be proud that some things just naturally come easy to you. Focus your energies on efforts that are meaningful to you, regardless of what anyone else thinks about them. Love yourself. Spend your time doing the things that light you up. Love the special people in your life and tell them you love them. Do that right now. Spend time in the places you love spending time. Never, ever be afraid to look silly. #truthbombs#beyourself#celebration#luckiestlawyer#consciuscounsel#indianlocalgear
Of all my doppelgängers, Mexico’s goalkeeper at the 2018 World Cup, Guillermo ‘Memo’ Ochoa, is definitely most topical. I received a slew of text messages after Mexico played earlier this week and even had my own confusing and startling moment of déjà-vu while watching him on the screen. Yet, he and I remain strangers. I see the coincidence as a friendly reminder that we’re all not so different - even if we were born in different places, lead different lives and make different impacts. Is it just a coincidence if we happen to eat the same amount of guacamole 🥑? At the end of the day, however we look on the outside, we’re all connected by the same source. Unity, yo! Or as they say in Spanish ‘unity, yo’. #worldcup#mexico#ochoa#sterling
