Why are we so hard on ourselves sometimes?
One of my belated birthday present to myself was to get some color in my legs before my trip with a spray tan.
I found myself getting all worried about what my Salon friend would think of my body composition if I was”fit” enough to be a health and fitness coach. I know that she does a lot of tans for college age ladies so found myself getting self-conscious. Then I paused and gave myself a quick kick in butt. I was definitely being too hard on myself.
I’m not looking for flat abs and smooth skin. What I’m looking for is feeling strong, feeling confident, and letting the rest of the world know that it’s not about size. Our health is about an strength from our true core. It’s a strong inner feeling of self-love and taking good care of yourself. 💜💪🏻🌟 Thank you “Bliss By Jami”. 👗
My heart is full once again.
One of my favorite mottos is "One day a a time."
One of the rewards of helping people with their health is when they have lighbulb moments and they commit to making changes.
You have to be ready to commit to change. No matter how many messages, texts and reminders you get from me it's YOU that will make the change. I will be here for you when you are ready.
In honor of Transformation Tuesday I can share a triumph with you.
I met with a friend and a client a few days ago and my heart is full. I'm so proud of her progress.
I've been working with her for years, but things were not progressing until we paired her with Yoga and a new nutrition plan
The plan does not restrict food, teaches you how to eat out, and doesn't count calories. The focus is on veggies and water and simple things so we can still enjoy life.
She has Fibromyalgia and experiences pain on a daily basis so exercise is not easy for her.
She didn't give up on herself and even with all her challenges.
She used to drink Dr. Pepper and eat Doritos almost daily.
Now she makes her own iced tea and snacks on crispy sweet peppers.
She's drinking more water and doing as much Yoga a few times a week.
She's feeling better and I can tell. I can tell in how she holds her body, but most importantly her smile.
She's beginning to understand it's a process and her daily positive choices are paying off.
I'm so thankful she did not give up on her journey and I can't wait to see where it takes her next.
One day at a time.
Never give up on YOU!
If you need help I'm here for you.
Love, Coach Kara 💜
Last month I donated a "Core De Force" workout DVD (mixed martial arts exercise program) for the SELCO employee Wellness event raffle.
It was my 4th year attending the event as a vendor.
Since I used to work there, before I started my own health and fitness business, I always see so many friends and meet new ones.
I pride myself with follow-up so I inquired to find out who had won the DVD set.
To my surprise it was won by Kaydie. She is always giving back and paying it forward. Thank you Kaydie for forwarding the gift of health.
Here's what she said in her email:
"I actually donated the set to TLC in Honduras. It’s an all-female campus where young women in Honduras are trained to become leaders in business and the community. They do not have a gym or TV. They do have a laptop and I know they will put these DVDs to good use to stay in shape. My close friend Hailey and her family live on the campus and she was extremely grateful for the gift. I am spreading the wellness!"
Why have I waited over 2 months to post this picture of me and Shaun T?
I think it because I was trying to find the right words.
Who doesn’t want a hug from this man who has inspired so many and continues to inspire us all!
Honestly I wasn't very happy with my expression (and I pretty sure I'm ready to blink) as my friend Jen pointed out: "Kara you just look like your filled with joy!". I also had a friend try to edit the picture, but there's no point because it shows my emotion in the moment.
You see...there's a story behind my joyous smile.
Shaun T. picked me out of the crowd as Group Fitness Instructor!
Did he have to take the time to compliment me and ask me if I had my Fitness Certification and assume that I taught dance and lifted weights? He could have just taken the picture with the other 300 Coaches in line without saying as much as a "Thank you."
You see....that's what makes him so special. He makes others around him feel significant and important at the right time.
I know that also why he's been so successful in his career.
He connects with people on a deeper level. I want to be like Shaun T.
During our workout portion of the day he was running around the room yelling and inspring us to push through the hard moves and "Dig Deep"!
I was so star-struck that I couldn't get my video to work and the all of sudden he was right in front of me.
I immediately dropped my camera and went right back into the "Insanity Live" workout move. He said "Thank you very much" which was just his nice way of saying "Get back to work!"
Then I stood in line for one hour to get this photo.
After I gave him a hug he said... "I have a question to ask you, but wait let's get our picture. Are you Group Fitness Instructor?"
Me: "Yes I am!"
Shaun T: "Because when I came around the room I saw you go right into good form and technique and I thought....Girl you must teach classes!" In a time where I question my dedication to the fitness industry with time commitments, monthly fees, and CEC’s, do I want to continue to teach?
The answer is YES because of days like this when I know people need ME to help them.
My continued mission is to “transform lives from the inside out.”
I’m packing for Indiana this week for my annual Coaching conference.
I’m nervous and excited all at the same time. ✨
I know it will be a wonderful experience and I’m thrilled my Coach Stephanie is coming with me!
Next year my goal is to bring at least 10 more Coaches from our “Team Believe” tribe! 🌟💪🏻
Will you be part of our amazing team by then? 🤗
