Eating fat is crucial to your health (gasp)

I'm sure you're familiar with the old saying that eating fat will make you fat, stemming from the fat-free craze of the 1970s.  For decades (and even still, arguably) we've been afraid of eating fat.  Ironically, ever since the fat-free fad occurred, we keep getting more overweight as a population than ever before. 
The truth is eating healthy fats is absolutely imperative to our brain health, and we must be doing it on a daily basis.  Lack of these healthy fats can cause our brains to feel foggy, have problems with attention, and poor memory.  Healthy fats include avocado, fatty fish, olive oil, and nuts, to name a few.  Our brains need these healthy fats to function correctly, and fitting them into our daily diets can be really simple.

The seasons hold so much wisdom and insight into how we operate as humans, and this parallel is one that should be embraced and acknowledged.  For example, as we're in the autumn season, take the time to reflect and release -- just as nature is.  This season the trees release their leaves until the spring when they bloom again, and we can do the same.

So today, I invite you to do a little exercise digging deeper into this.  Take out a paper or the notepad on your phone, and journal on this idea today. 
What's going on in your life that's not working?
What do you need to release so you can grow?

Giving thought to those two questions alone will provide you with a slew of ideas on how to go through this season of release and repair.

Let's talk about sleep. 
It's a problem a considerable amount of people struggle with, and we all are aware of how absolutely critical good sleep is for our health.  This we know.

But have you ever considered how lack of sleep influences your social interactions?  Think about it.  When you're exhausted and struggling to get through your day, you tend to withdraw inward and try to avoid social interaction because you're just not feeling up to it.

Now think about how daily sleep deprivation can lead to the daily withdrawal of social interactions -- and what that can compile to become over time.

Did you know that eating while stressed raises the cortisol levels in your body, which can disrupt your hormones?  What this means is even if you're eating healthy foods, your body's reaction to what you're eating while stressed can still cause an adverse effect on your body. 
This could even be a reason you're not losing weight, even though you're eating healthy foods.  If you're stressing about the scale and every bite you eat, try loosening up this week and seeing what changes.  Continue eating healthily, but do your best to take the stress out of it altogether.  Check back in and let me know what feels different for you in a week of doing this, I'm so curious to know!
