Winter mornings on the farm . . .
#Repost @craftmalting (@get_repost) ・・・ We hear often that quality and price are deterrents to breweries investing in their local, craft maltster. Our encouragement is to talk to one another, to understand that we share a learning curve, and to invest deeply in each other trusting that every show of faith will yield results.
Chilly day here on the farm! ☁️🌱🌬️
Happy Sunday! We spent this awesome fall day watching football and then bagging malt fresh from the kiln!
#Repost @craftmalting (@get_repost) ・・・ What makes a thing truly local? Proximity of resources? Use of a certain percentage of nearby ingredients? Or simple geography? As Maltsters, in the middle of the supply chain, we have a unique opportunity to link the local brewery to the local farmer. Let us keep connecting all the dots so that a complete picture of local may emerge.
Coming along nicely! . . .
What do we have here?? A full malt house! The batch in the back is fresh out of the steep tank and the batch in the front is just about ready for the kiln! Who's ready for some local beer made with fresh two-row barley? 👋🏼🌱
Fall on the farm 🍁🍃🍂🌱
Throwback to the malt house before it was officially ready! In these pictures you can see that we installed and painted new walls. We also insulated the room in order to help regulate the temperature during the floor malting process.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 . . . #Repost @craftmalting (@get_repost) ・・・ Grain is where beer begins. The creativity of ingredients that follows is built on the strength of the malt-bill. And because we understand this, we strive to craft an array of malts that can support the full innovation of brewers and distillers alike.

Couldn't have said it better ourselves. . . . #Repost @craftmalting (@get_repost) ・・・ “Lost in the local beer movement is the fact that the vast majority of ingredients and, so therefore, the majority of what you’re buying when you order a pint is coming from somewhere far away. When brewers use local malts and other ingredients it closes the loop on the community element. The farmers, maltsters and brewers are all your neighbors. The products they produce will be unique to that spot. That’s pretty damn cool.” - Cody Reif, R&D Brewer, @newbelgium
