When I think of Athens, I remember it steeped in sunlight, ancient history, and pulsating with every sense of bravely blending the old with new. There’s a rock solid foundation, yet it’s as fresh and fluid as the sea around it. Maybe it was just an extra magical summer, but it’s now one of my favorite cities. #Athens#PPInTheNow
Some weekends are made for picking a place within driving distance, and just going! Maybe not “exotic” but we always have a good time! Bonus if you live in an area like us where there are a bunch of spots we still haven’t been to that are fun, interesting, beautiful and so easy to get to. This past rainy Saturday was spent being history nerds in Gettysburg, and was truly an enjoyable and inspirational time.
The bus tour was worth it to not only stay dry out of the elements but gain valuable insight and a complete guide through the three days of America’s costliest war. Gettysburg is one of the most well preserved battlefields in the world, and contains more than 1300 memorials and an impressively large artifacts collection.
Also, the town itself is charming, with cute shops and wine tasting cafes galore. Hard to believe the area is a site of such a terrible time in American history, and yet so picturesque now. #thingstodo#daytrip#usa#gettysburg#pa#americanhistory#gettysburgnationalmilitarypark#nps#local#just_unitedstates#explore#honestabe#littleroundtop
