First chance I’ve had to get up to the local mountains since my head on collision in July.
Enjoying a little bit of hiking, enjoying the scenery and see how much snow is left on top of the mountain range.
Took the time to grab a bite to eat and make some hot coffee.
My @bdstacticalgear pack, my Combat Tracker from @tyrgroupllc made by @jeffcrowner knives LLC, using my @emberlit stove to heat up a @mtnhouse meal with my @snowpeakusa cup.
She wanted to see what came in today as I was inspecting them.
I picked up a 56 piece tire repair kit from @bouldertools and a @viaircorp 88P 12 volt 120psi air compressor adding to my vehicle prep for off-roading as well as every day use for maintaining tire pressure or run over a nail or bolt on the road or parking lot.
With all the fires going on, if you’re camping in a dry area please maintain the fire by using what you need, keep it manageable, be able to put it out and collect from fallen trees or branches reducing the fuel for a potential forest fire.
Communication is important and with my new 4Runner after the accident it didn’t feel right until I had a few things done to it.
I’d like to thank @adventurewired for helping me with the installation of the new @odysseybattery, the battery bracket to keep it in place, the wiring for my @yaesuusa HAM radio and wiring to set it up just the way I want it with the @ragofabrication antenna mount, the wiring for the fridge and USB ports to run without needing the key in the ignition.
I just received my @goalzero Nomad 20 in the mail today building up my emergency preparedness set up in the 4Runner in addition to my Nomad 7 solar panel that can be daisy chained together to increase output.
The primary use will be charging electronic devices such as cell phones, portable hand held radios, battery chargers vehicle battery charger, tablets and as a trickle charge for the vehicle battery if needed.
She wanted to see what came in the mail, adding to my emergency preparedness stocks from @mtnhouse
I have a new discount code for sharing with friends, family, fans, and even the frenemies.
This code is valid October - December and is good for 30% off purchases on MountainHouse.com.
Getting back into getting out there, I just installed my @ragofabrication rear window panels on my @toyotausa 4Runner to hold some of the gear that would normally be in a gear bag or go in and out of the vehicle.
The panels are built like the MOLLE system for weaving pouches to attach and store things I’ve on occasion forgot to take with me on camping and off-roading trips allowing more room for other gear or making it easier for sleeping in the vehicle without being surrounded by multiple bags or totes.
On the driver side I have a First Aid Kit, HAM/FRS radios, flash light, glow sticks, back up battery chargers, assorted charging cables, fire craft essential and 7W @goalzero solar panel.
On the passenger side I have a @crkt_knives Chogan, Sven Saw, E-Tool and @leathermantools Mulltitool.
I still have the room to see out my passenger side window how I have it set up looking back.
I’m happy with it!
It’s good to be able to get away and have someone in the group that’s great with a camera.
This is the Anza-Borrego State Park in the Southern California desert over the weekend for some camping, off-roading and enjoying getting away from the city lights.
The first get away since March and the first off-road trip in the new 4Runner since the head on collision in July.
I’d like to thank my chiropractor @pewpewdoc for getting me back to health and @auyeung_art for the great picture.
Had gone out to the desert for the weekend for some off-roading and camping.
With on and off high winds, I made a wall of rocks. To keep the fire going and under control.
Good to be back out there, it’s been too long!
Hey everyone, been off the grid for a while focusing on physical therapy, getting better and a new 2018 Toyota 4Runner after the head on collision back in July.
Feeling better and getting back on track, I’m heading out to the desert for some off-roading, camping and a little target practice.
For everyone that has stuck around, thank you and for those new here, I hope to be posting more soon.
