It was challenging choosing only 10 photos from this year that highlighted all that we did but we managed to do it! Our urban farm in Ashbridge Estate, the Moss Park Market that also became a community hub for workshops, inspired events with @connectthu and her volunteers, our ongoing kid’s programs in Moss Park and so much more made 2018 a year to remember. Thanks to everyone including: @rainbowplate @youth.gravity @karmakitchentoronto @onheritage @cityofto @foallangardens @ontrillium @storstac_containers @torontohousing @comenyam @ozerybakery @abenaoffeh
Our Christmas dinner @mengrai_thai was a lot of fun and the food was delicious. This year was another good one with so many interesting projects and programs going on and we couldn’t have done it without these (and other) dedicated people. Our star volunteer in Moss Park is the son of someone on our team and he always shows up, is hugely helpful and has the most inquisitive mind. Thanks to everyone. There’s a lot more to come in 2019. 💚
As food prices continue to rise, you can pay it forward this winter by purchasing our $5 Fresh Food Baskets from Moss Park Market for residents who can’t afford the cost of healthy food. Our Baskets are nutritious and stuffed with as much healthy produce as we can for $5. Building Roots will pass them along to people and families in our Moss Park community who will most benefit from fresh food. We’ll post the results to let you know how many we’ve paid forward. We spent an informative and very interesting day in Hamilton visiting food and pollinator gardens in public housing communities. I had seen @mcquestenurbanfarm a few years ago and was glad that @darcyhiggins had a chance to see it today. #urbanfarming #hamilton #communitygardens #freshfood #buildingcommunities #buildingroots

@karmakitchentoronto strung @buddhadoodles with wonderful messages in the room today. This one said “one step at a time” and that’s what we do to make positive changes happen in Moss Park in small but impactful ways. See you at the next Karma Kitchen!
