When you have small reasons to celebrate, you try a new dessert stop on the #SanDiegoDessertCensus . @lab_dessert_coffee is a cafe with a pretty strange selection of desserts (macarons, macaron ice cream sandwiches, cotton candy ice cream burritos, and shaved ice). We both decided to get the macaron ice cream sandwiches, and while Missy wasn’t as crazy about hers (fruity pebble and Oreo shells with strawberry ice cream and Oreo crumbs) I thought mine was pretty awesome (red velvet and hazelnut shells with vanilla ice cream and Oreo crumbs). Definitely too thick to eat as a sandwich though! Maybe if we’re feeling adventurous in the future we’ll try a cotton candy burrito 😜
Stopped by @bestiescooltreats in #LibertyStation earlier today. Just opened up a couple of months ago, place looks cute. Bright colors and toys all over, and they were projecting old movies onto the wall outside the store. Got a scoop of birthday cake ice cream and the pie special, a scoop of ice cream over a mini pie (we picked vanilla on pumpkin pie) with whipped cream, cinnamon sauce, and almond praline. Great flavors and nice big servings in a fun setting! Another sweet stop on the #SanDiegoDessertCensus !
Question for those of you using pre-workout: what do you use and why did you pick it?
I’ve been struggling to pick a brand/product. @cellucor, @optimumnutrition, and @citadelnutrition are the latest ones I’ve tried. I like that the gold-standard pre-workout is Informed-Choice approved for sport. The scientific side of me likes that citadel nutrition only includes active ingredients shown to be effective in scientific-study supported doses. C4 original has a similar composition to ON, but is the first pre-workout I ever tried, and still my favorite flavor.
Anecdotal feelings of “pump” are difficult for me to get behind, I’m way more into the science. As far as formulation goes, what matters? How does that differ for sports vs just working out? All thoughts appreciated!
@swingandamissy and I have been super busy the last couple of weeks (so excited to tell everyone about it), and woke up this morning feeling like we deserved something special for breakfast. Have had our eyes on @wayfarer_bread for a few weeks now, and finally got out to try their pastries. I got the hazelnut/almond/plum croissant and Missy got the sesame/passion fruit bun 🤤 Winners all around! Got a loaf of sourdough for later too, we’ll see how long that lasts.
Things I learned today:
1) Bouldering is super hard
2) Grip strength is real and I have none of it
3) My soft, computer-bound fingers are easily shredded
I had a ton of fun trying though! Thanks @j_emmaluby for inviting @swingandamissy and I up to get our butts kicked by a wall 😜 Also, I’m sure my form is terrible, please be kind 😬
@sukis_pupstagram might be confused about the box at our door, but I’ve been waiting more than a year for @imperfectproduce to finally deliver to San Diego, and today is the day! First chatted with them last year at #MakerFaire2017 , and loved the idea of a subscription box for produce that didn’t quite make it to store shelves. Most of the items in our first box got put in as surplus, but our poor carrots weren’t pretty enough for grocery stores :( Super excited to keep trying this though! Btw, let me know if you’re interested and I think there’s a link I can send you to get $10 off 😉 .
Super fortunate that @swingandamissy and I were able to make it up to the @celebrationthtr for the final showing of Cabaret with @alexnee42 as Emcee! Amazing show and everyone really left it all out on the stage. Alex crushed it! So great to see that goofy kid I kicked it with in middle and high school doing such powerful work! Look out for this guy (seriously, look out for him, dude’s a menace)!
If anyone was going to randomly stumble across a chocolate festival, of course it would be me and @swingandamissy! Finally visited San Francisco with her, and managed to pick the weekend of the #GhirardelliChocolateFestival to stop by @GhirardelliSquare. 15 samples and a couple key purchases later, we left as super happy campers! Shoutouts to @ghirardelli for an awesome event, @snackapade for super generous and easy to take home samples, @z.cioccolato for some of the best fudge we’ve ever tasted, @michaels_chocolates for a ganache line up that was well worth the wait, and @tchochocolate for letting us camp out at the front of the line while we tried every sample (gotta make sure we bought the right one!) :D
