I was lucky enough to stumble upon this fairy cactus (does anyone know the species?) a year or so ago. After not much growth for awhile, it has recently started taking off!! I cannot believe how many individual growth tips there are now!🌵🌵
This Mammillaria Hahniana (Old Lady Cactus) hasn’t skipped a beat after being moved inside for the winter. She is still blooming like crazy! Swipe to see how tiny she was just a year ago! Happy Saturday!
It may not look like much now but there are about 600-800 cacti seeds sowed in these three tubs. If all goes according to plan I’m hoping for at least a 30% germination rate (based on how cheap they were). Although I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up with 400 cacti seedlings... I consider this an investment and hopefully I have a good load of small cacti in 3-5 years to sell!! Of course updates are sure to follow🙃 wish me luck!
If you look really closely at the top bulb you can see it just starting to split. In fact all the bulbs except the smallest is starting to split! Such a weird plant this Ornithogalum is. I can’t wait to see how well it blooms this winter! Happy growing🌱🌿
Here’s to hoping burying my bonsai (with their pots) in the garden for the winter will do a better job keeping them alive than I did last year overwintering them in the garage. Loving the colors on the two maples! Snow coming Sunday so I’ll probably have to shake them off a few times so they don’t snap while they harden off. Happy Humpday!
I attempted a few jade grafts a few months ago purely out of curiosity to see if it was possible. Among those grafts is this little one, (the one I thought least likely to survive because of how little the scion was). The scion was leftover from a different graft, and the stock (crassula ovata Gollom) was just a rando plant waiting for its day to shine. Swipe to see growth from a week after grafting, July 30th, to now!
Closeup of a newbie to the collection. I just couldn’t say no to this sago palm. I had seen it many months ago at the nursery I go to and they finally put it on sale for winter so I just had to get it! Within a matter of days it started pushing out a new leaf. Such cute curls😋 Happy growing!!
I was not expecting as many flowers as this little one pushed out this year. This is the first time this Mammillaria Hahniana (or old lady cactus) has flowered for me. Hot sun and water only when dry. That pollen😍
With a failed scion, I had a leftover San Pedro stock. I figured why not try to graft a tiny chunk of Cereus Jamacaru Monstrous on there (instead of throwing it away I’d rather experiment). I had no faith as it was 75% open wound on the top/side of the scion. After about 2 weeks I think it has taken! The top most areole is starting to swell! Cacti are such wonders, I cannot wait to see this little one turn into something majestic... Happy Tuesday!
