God created this beautiful path for you & there's no get-it-quick formula to see that path. He requires obedience, a repentant heart & one that is willing to follow Him on that path, especially when it gets hard. It's dangerous to get out of your lane & compare your life to others because God called & graced you to be YOU, not them. He will use you to do your part in the body of Christ, but how can He use you if you are not in your lane, but off walking in the fields, looking for the easy way out? Following Jesus will cost you your life. But, if you are afraid to let go of your life, know that you will lose it anyway. He created you. He knows you. Stop comparing. "..if you cling to your life, you will lose it, and if you let your life go, you will save it."- Luke 17:33 | lastly, guard your heart on social media from comparison. What a waste of time & a distraction. | #occupy#PilgrimRest
The key to getting what we want on a natural level is human effort. So we set goals, discipline ourselves and strive. No wonder its difficult for us to understand that the greatest gift ever given is simply to be recieved and not achieved. Eph. 2:8-9 #prbc#occupyallstreets#attend#grow
Family, today is the first of June. We are six months through this year. If you need to start something...do it! Every good and perfect gift comes from Him. Step Out! He's Good! #prbc#pilgrimrest#Godisgood
Good Morning Family! It's never about the day or the season- it's about your perspective. Change it! Remember, He is Good! All the time! Feeling low- spend some more time with Him and allow Him to draw you closer in. So don’t be misled, my dear brothers and sisters. Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. (James 1:16-17 NLT) #attend#PilgrimRest#occupy#occupyallstreets
If any household or town refuses to welcome you or listen to your message, shake its dust from your feet as you leave. Matt 10:14 (NLT)
Disciples and Dust
In Jewish tradition, by age 6, boys could recite the Torah – Genesis to Deuteronomy. Those “at the top of the class”, would be taken to the next level of education that went to age ten where they would memorise the Old Testament. Then, those who were at the top of the class, went to the next level of education… which took them to age 14/15… those at the top of the class would again be taken to the next level, which was discipleship.
A disciple wanted to BE like his teacher and DO what his teacher did… to walk in his ways. Disciples would follow their Rabbi everywhere and would sit at his feet to learn. They used to give a blessing, or encouragement to a disciple by saying, “May you be covered in the dust of your Rabbi.” Those who didn’t make the ‘cut’ to continue ‘Rabbi training’, the most honoured occupation in society, went home to become apprentices in their families business.
Jesus was a Rabbi. When he chose his disciples, he chose those who had not made the cut. The first being Peter and Andrew. He said to the “Come, follow me.” He was literally saying to them, “You can do what I do, you can be what I am… come get covered in my dust…” He believed in them. It was Revolutionary.
Jesus was training them to be ‘Rabbi’s’ that would lead people in the ‘New Way.’ In Matt 10, he sends them out to teach. As was tradition, people would allow the disciples into their homes, would sit at their feet and listen, getting covered in the disciple’s dust. If they were refused, Jesus told the disciples to shake the dust off their feet. #occupyallstreets#PilgrimRest#keepgoing

God is always writing new chapters, penning new beginnings and weaving an unforgettable tapestry into the fabric of our lives. Every twist and turn, every disappointment and difficulty....EVERYTHING is couched by His sovereignty, grace and mercy. They take our hands and lead us to our tomorrows - the space where we wake up and discover that there is always more to our story than we could have ever imagined. Be encouraged. Yesterday, was just 1 sentence in a beautiful saga that is yet to be completed. @priscillashirer #PilgrimRest#attend
Abraham expressed confidence before he ever saw the ram (and we will come back to you). He could express that confidence because even though he wasn't clear on how God would come through, he was confident that He would come through. God did what Abraham was confident of, HE provided. Obedience and provision met. They met on the mountain- where God told Abraham to go. Stay faithful to what you've been asked to do, even and especially when it's seemingly impossible. #sayyestothetest#remainfaithful#PilgrimRest#occupy
