This risograph print is now available in my shop. Link in the bio.
It is the result of a Twitter campaign during which participants tweeted in random words which I then turned into an illustration. Risography is a unique printing system, popular for its environmentally friendly printing process and a unique finish of its printed pieces, very similar to those obtained from a photocopying machine. Small faults and ink marks produced by the printing roller are therefore common in prints resulting from this technique. These characteristics all grant a unique character to the piece.
All good things eventually come to an end and so does my sketchbook. It’s only taken me 10 years to complete it. The next one won’t take that long, I promise! Thanks again everyone for all the lovely comments and likes and most importantly for your patience!
I sketched this girl back in July when I was in Berlin. She was on a date with this guy and they were both too cool to admit that they actually really fancy each other so during the entire date they left their sunglasses on. Maybe it was just a really sunny day, can’t remember now but I think my theory is more interesting!
Lisbon’s radiant light made me draw with bright orange. I sat in Nuno Álvares park and drew a statue of him. Just as I had finished the sketch a cheeky pigeon landed on top of the statue and took a dump. In honour of that pigeon I had to include it in my drawing.
A dream of mine is to live on a boat. The thing is, my girlfriend doesn't want to because apparently a boat is too small for two people to live on. I also went through a phase of wanting to live in a disused shipping container which I'd hang from a tree in a public park because rent in London is insane!
I had some time to kill at Gatwick airport before my flight, so I drew the customers at the beauty parlour because they too had nowhere else to be. I know what 'nails' are, I know what 'brows' are but what the hell is 'fizz'? Help! Anybody..? Girls..?
Somebody in the street one block down from where I live owns an old Dodge. One day I sat there on my camping chair sketching this guy's car and I got a lot of bewildered looks from passerbyers. Well, I suppose the car's owner is a guy, a middle aged white man... mhhhm I smell moth balls and a receding hairline.
My office is just opposite the Central Saint Martins campus. One day during my lunch break this girl just laid down on the lawn next to where I was sketching and took a nap. I drew her while she was asleep. Maybe that's a bit of a creepy thing to do but hey free life models don't come often. I think she must have been a fashion design student. I noticed her expensive looking sneakers.
