Just keep blooming 🌹 every year @oldrosetattooca hosts a #toydrive for the Spark of Love campaign & this year I had to join the fun!
Tattoos & giving back are two of my favorite things 🖤🙏🏾 #merrychristmas
Recently I posted a quote that said something like your worth isn’t based on your ability to be productive.
This hit home for a lot of people so I wanted to chat about it on here. As an entrepreneur it’s basically a death sentence if you’re not using every minute to either create content, form new relationships, or strategize how to do those things.
I definitely find myself linking my worthiness to how much work I get done in a day. I came back from a trip on Tuesday and I did not want to do any work for a couple days after returning.
I kept thinking to myself, you have so much work to catch up on why are you being intellectually lazy? But I needed time to decompress from my trip (because introvert things) and my mind was not in a place to work.
I realized that by day two and gave myself a pass to be “lazy”. I knew nothing good would come from my mental state at the time, so I backed off.
I’m just here to tell you that is completely okay. If you need some time to breathe and if it takes a day or 2, or a week...THAT IS OKAY!
Give yourself a break, listen to your mind and body! You don’t always have to be a productive person. If it’s costing you your peace, it’s not worth it!
335lbs x5 Reminiscing on the time I use to be strong 💪🏾 I know that I won’t be touching heavy weight for awhile and I’m totally okay with that! ————————————————————————
Right now my focus is getting HEALTHY again✅ I’ve been talking a lot about hormonal health bc I’m in the thick of getting my body back to happy. ————————————————————————
These last 3 years I’ve been beating my body into the ground with lots of competing, weight cuts, stress, lack of 💤 ,etc. It all took a toll on me about 3-4 months ago when my menstrual cycle took a little hiatus 🛫
I ignored it for the first 2 months, not good...especially with my history of PCOS! Apparently I like to bang my head into the wall repeatedly before realizing it hurts. 🤷🏽♀️ I’m finally getting my 💩 together. ————————————————————————
I went full swing into supplementing, sleeping😴 8-9 hours a night, training less, eating more, seed cycling, eating meat 🥩 again. These things all play into 😁happy hormones!
REMEMBER: Change doesn’t happen over night, especially if you’re doing it the holistic way. Give yourself time (3-5 months typically). ————————————————————————
The female body is so dang 🧩 complex! We have to make sure it is producing the right amounts of progesterone, estrogen, luteinizing hormone, and follicle-stimulating hormones when it should (depending on the time of the month). ————————————————————————
If our hormones aren’t happy then things like ovulation🥚 and menstruation won’t happen 🚨 Also PRs and lean body comp take a hit! ————————————————————————
If you’re experiencing abnormal symptoms I highly suggest getting 🧬tested @dutchtest is amazing!
Hormone health is important for both men and women. Guys if you’re not waking up with a morning 🦴, or experiencing low sex drive, exhaustion, go get your crap checked! 😎 Happy Hump Day Loves ———————————————————————— #endrant#hormones#holistichealth#eatwell#livebetter#sandiego#olympiclifting#flexibledieting#eattherainbow
Fun fact: @linzloo102 we’ve been best friends for 14 years. I just realized that today 👯♀️ You didn’t like me at first, but what can I say I’m pretty dang lovable 🖤 I just wanted to say I love and appreciate your friendship so much...have a great vaycay, I miss you already!
195lbs x1 Just trying to get use to this weight...I tend to stay in my comfort zone (between 170-180lbs) but today my lifts were feeling good so I had to go up. I failed this weight like 2 minutes before this attempt (it’s on my story if you want to laugh at me 😂). #weightlifting#averagejoes#mind#muscle#movement
Meal prep doesn’t haven’t to be bland and boring👌🏾I’ll be eating this meal everyday this week, and I’m not even mad! ——————————————————————————
6oz Grass-fed Top Sirloin
250g Brussels Sprouts ——————————————————————————
What’s your favorite meal right now? Let me know! #macros#flexibledieting#eatwell#livebetter#nutrition
I rarely hear about women having easy periods, most of the time I hear horror stories. Ideally periods should be somewhat symptomless, wait what?! —————————————————————
Yes! if you’re experiencing painful, inconsistent periods as well as symptoms like heavy cramping, acne, mood swings, etc, you’re hormones may be off. —————————————————————
*Consult a doctor about hormone testing, or visit dutchtest.com for a full hormone panel* —————————————————————
So what can I do to ease my symptoms?
1️⃣ Incorporate seed cycling 👈🏽 (swipe)
There are 4 seeds that build healthy hormones. Certain seeds will block unwanted hormones as well as promote proper ones depending on where you’re at in your cycle.
2️⃣ Supplementation 👏🏽 taking zinc, magnesium, b complex and vitamin d, digestive enzymes will improve mood & energy levels. Also squeeze in a women’s multi vitamin too.
3️⃣ SLEEP 😴 make it a goal to get a minimum of 8 hours a night.
4️⃣ Eat fermented🥬 foods like kimchi, sauerkraut, @sprouts has a great selection. Fermented foods improve gut health!
5️⃣ Eat red 🥩 daily!
6️⃣ Eat a high fiber diet 30-50g per day to regulate blood sugar.
7️⃣ Reduce ☕️ caffeine, sugar, and processed foods. —————————————————————
There you have it! If you want to know more about seed cycling I recommend visiting @lauriechristineking instagram and website! She has so much great info on female hormones! #stayeducated#femalehormones#whyarewesocomplicated
Part 2: 🗣🗣🗣Life isn’t a checklist where you get points for checking off the box that sounds good. I can’t tell you how many times people have said “good thing you have your degrees to fall back on if it doesn’t work out” when I would bring up business ventures.
I don’t have a plan B, it’s my passions or nothing! I hope that you are encouraged to keep following the small tugs on your heart that are your true purpose in life.🖤
We don’t always know what to expect in life but you can always expect the unexpected.
Part 1: How I ended up here is kind of funny because I never expected to be doing what I’m doing now. Let’s go full circle ⭕️ here’s my life story and a little more about me!
I originally got into nutrition and lifting 6-7 years ago to lose weight. I have battled with PCOS since I was 16 years old. I gained a ton of weight in college and I was unhappy with my health and appearance.
I went to school for psychology and ended up pursuing it for 7 years. I have a masters in forensic psychology with an emphasis in criminology and research🤓. I worked in my industry for 2 years before I ditched that career.
Eventually I found flexible dieting and I decided to make a huge life shift. I learned about macros and lifting. My once hobby turned into a full blow business and passion. I became certified master nutritionist about 2 years ago, had to make it official📚
Now I coach nutrition at my gym and for remote clients. I compete in powerlifting and 🏋🏽♀️next year I’ll be pursuing Olympic weightlifting.
Most importantly I love Jesus!! My relationship with God is my most precious possession and I love sharing Gods love to others.
I am the founder of 🌱Phat Hippie Holistic Sports Nutrition. This is my baby and first business, also one of my many passions. I love helping people achieve their goals and become more.
My other company @badgalsbarbellclub is my passion project. I’ll be real with you I don’t always know what I’m doing but the mission behind the brand is what keeps me dedicated to growing it.
Lastly I own a gym @thefacilityssc with my brother and best friend. The facility is the first of its kind. We integrate the highest level technology with velocity based training, nutrition, and recovery for athletes. #wedabest
