Climate scientists have rung the alarm ⏰ about the urgent need for drastic environmental action to keep global warming from exceeding 1.5°C. Hot extremes 🔥 and periods with heavy rains ⛈ and droughts are expected to increase as global temperatures continue to rise. Taking drastic measures to keep further global warming to a minimum is vital. If we don’t act ⏳ the impacts on biodiversity and ecosystems, including species loss and extinction, are projected to be extreme.

There's still hope, but it means we have to get off fossil fuels right now.
On October 13, let's deliver the science that 1.5˚C = no fossil fuels to our decisionmakers.

New York City, it’s about time you #StopSucking . 🗽 Tomorrow I am joining @rlespinal to support his new bill to ban single-use plastic straws 🚫 in NYC’s eating and drinking establishments. This is our ocean, this is our city, and this is our global movement for a #StrawlessOcean and it needs ALL voices from ALL boroughs to support it. So let’s show the world that #NewYorkCity is THE global leader in sustainability with this critical first step to reduce plastic pollution. Our work is just beginning, I hope you’ll join @lonelywhale and me tomorrow. 🐋 (ps - stay tuned for how to support from home 📱)
