We’ve all heard of how important getting at least 8 hours/night of shut eye is 😴 ...
But realistically that’s just not feasible for some — especially during the demanding holiday time, right!? .
Here are some helpful tips on how to stay energized in our full days...
❄️ Drink lots of H2O in addition to my fav pink drink!! Being hydrated helps our entire body function. .
❄️ Don’t go straight for the sugars & carbs the next day. Make sure you get some protein & nutrients in you to avoid that vicious blood sugar spiking cycle. Eating smaller portions more often instead of a big meal will also help keep that blood sugar balanced! .
❄️ Move around - even if it’s a quick stroll to take the dog out or power walking throughout the grocery store as you shop 😉 moving your blood increases circulation which will boost your adrenaline + help the metabolism! .
❄️ Bask in the sunlight ☀️ either getting outside or even sitting by a window for a period of time will not only help energize with raising vitamin D + B levels, but also help boosts immunity! .
📱Turn off screens an hour before bedtime. Let your brain and eyes rest from technology!
Hopefully we all stay as healthy as possible this December!! ☃️

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is decorating our tree with white lights and red & white ornaments. This was something my mom started with us when we were little. The red represents Jesus' blood that was offered for us when he died on the cross. ❤ The white represents how we are made clean and new when we receive His free gift 🎁 of grace. 🕊 I always loved hearing her explain it, and spending many nights sitting in my dad's La-Z-boy recliner staring all all of the beautiful things on the tree. 🎄 So this is a Christmas tradition that we carry on with our boys. 😊

I may have done this a time or two, and we all know it's not what's best for our bodies! We need to eat throughout the day to keep our blood glucose levels stable...and let's just go ahead and admit it...to keep our hangry selves from popping out!! 😡😬
Or I've also been guilty of skipping a meal and coming home so ravenous that I stuff whatever junk is available in my face. 🍕🍰🍪🍩🤪🤦♀️
Now I like to chew my food as much as the next person, BUT you guys...these protein meal replacement shakes taste like a milkshake from Diary Queen!! 🥤🍦🍫 #nojoke . They are soooooo good & I don't ever have to feel guilty for drinking one!! So now I Lean while I clean!! 🤣🧦👕🛏🚽🛁 This solves our problem, busy mamas!! 🙌 #problemsolved .

Do you have a hard time saying, "No"? Do you worry that people won't like you if you don't accommodate or measure up to their expectations?
When you've spent the majority of your life trying to be everything for everyone, the first times you say "no" can be super hard. Especially if you struggle with perfectionism & people pleasing. These things are such heavy burdens and leave you feeling depleted & exhausted.
I'll never forget reading the book, Boundaries, by Cloud & Townsend. I absolutely love the tagline: "When to say 'yes' and how to say 'no' to take control of your life." It was so liberating to realize that I could do that...say, "No, that won't work for me," and the world wasn't going to fall apart. .
It's much like someone who's broken their leg. They have to do physical therapy to regain their strength and to be able to weight bear and then walk on that leg again. You have to flex your emotional muscles, and practice saying, "no" in some little things to build up to the really big ones. Gather a good support system around you for when you have to say the BIG "no's"...because the people who have been using you won't like it one bit. But, sister, it will feel so good!! To finally be able to set good, appropriate boundaries for yourself....to know who YOU are and what YOU stand for....brings so much freedom!!
God never intended for you to carry the weight of trying to earn other's approval. He never wants us to be controlled by fear of what other people think of us either. Ladies, do the work of flexing those "no" muscles. 💪🏋️♀️ If you need help knowing how, read the Boundaries book. Find a good friend who you love & trust. Invite them into this with you to be your support and encouragement. Whatever you do, don't live your life under the control of someone else's opinions...because their opinions are NONE of your business. 🙌😉
Awww, would you guys say a prayer for our sweet Livvy? She has lost 5 lbs in the past couple months, and we took her to the vet today to get her checked out. She has elevated liver enzymes, and with the vet's guidance we decided to hospitalize her. I know it's just a cat, but she's so much more than that to us. (And...please, whatever your feelings are about cats, PLEASE don't say anything mean here. 🙏) I'm really sad that she hasn't been feeling well, and we're all hoping she'll make a full recovery. 🐱💗🙏 #smittybittyandlivvy#kittycats

Our family always opens new pajamas on Christmas Eve, and it is one of my favorite traditions. 😍 However, a friend shared a fun twist on the idea that we’ll be doing from this day forward.
The night of Thanksgiving “Santa” comes and leaves Christmas books and Christmas pajamas to wear leading up to the big day- it’s such a better way to enjoy them all season long! Isn’t that the best idea?! I’m excited for the boys to open theirs this year and thought I’d pass along the idea to you too. 🦃🎄😊
Pumpkin pie is my all time favorite, especially made from scratch by one of my aunts. 🥧😋 Every Thanksgiving I would look forward to having a piece or two...maybe 3 or 4...and some for the road?? Why not?? 🤷♀️ .
But...4 years ago ALL of that changed. (The pic on the left was taken June 2014.) I had gotten to a really unhealthy place. I was sad a lot of the time, and guess what made me feel better? 🤔 That's right, FOOD!! Specifically chocolate & sweets. 🥞🍫🍨🍰🎂🍪🍦🍭🍬🍩☕🍕🥓🥨🥐🥠
I was just trying to FEEL better. To numb the sadness, and give my brain a boost of "feel good" chemicals...even if it was only temporary. Totally self-medicating with food.
Then came my wake up call...when my doctor told me I needed to lose weight & try to manage my sadness and mood swings better. I realized I was missing out on so much LIFE!! Sleeping on the couch, while my boys begged me to play with them. Staying home from family outings due to headaches or neck pain. I was READY to do something different.
4 years ago, I committed to this new way of doing things. I knew it was going to take WORK- *mind*body*spirit*- WORK. 💪👩🏫🏃♀️📚 And lots of prayer! 🙏🙏 But, I needed to do this for myself, my husband, and our boys. .
So that first Thanksgiving after I had jumped in to my new lifestyle, I had 1 piece of pumpkin pie. 🥧 ONE. ☝️ And I was ok!! You see, I had added a little pink drink to my days, and I was using it as a tool to help me curb those sugar cravings, balanace out my moods, and give me more energy!! 🙌👏

After 1️⃣4️⃣ Days on the “Sleigh the Season” Challenge; I have to say I’m very pleased 👏🏻 with the results. I’m usually not one that looks at the number on the scale since I am often working out and muscle weighs more than fat. But used it to measure the progress this time. My clothes definitely fit much better too. This was actually much easier to follow than anything i have done and the shakes were delicious and filling. .
Summer set me back but man did we have fun 🍔🍕🌮🥂🍷🍦🌭 ‼️ Going into fall my jeans fit just a little bit too snug. My goal is to reduce my BMI and become leaner while building muscle and I’m more determined than ever thru healthy eating, exercise and my supplements. .

Both of the boys are not feeling well today, and stayed home from school. N has been sick since late Sunday night. I'm hoping my vigilance with handwashing and disinfecting will keep Jeff & I from getting it...but from what I hear, this stomach virus is making its rounds. E has some sort of cold with a bad cough (mostly due to his asthma). I hate when the kids are sick, and it's so cold outside that we have to stay cooped up in the house. 😕🤧😷😰 .
