Lack of access, equality, stereotypes are just a few of the barriers keeping girls from playing sports today.

We want to make a change! That’s why @adidaswomen launched the Breaking Barriers campaign, which is centered on bringing awareness to inequality in sports. Through sport we have the power to change lives, we’re going to use that power for good by helping to remove the barriers to sport for girls.
Last night, I joining my fellow @adidaswomen creators in NYC for an epic evening of sport alongside PowerPlay NYC to inspire young girls to get involved in fitness. We danced (I learned moves like ‘Orange Justice’ 😂), we did circuits and yoga, and then we had real, open discussions about body image, role models and inspiration. These girls were amazing to say the least, and I’m excited to continue to push the boundaries of women in sport. ♥️
Good morning, Maine! Here for a few days to spend time with family and then ✈️ to NYC for an exciting @adidaswomen’s event (more on that tomorrow!). So, I got in a quick little speed workout on my parents treadmill while this cutie (and his Christmas jammies🎄♥️) played with his Nonni. My workout:

“It’s the most wonderful time (5K) of the year!” The @cambridge5k Yulefest never disappoints! Huge showing for @heartbreakersrun, swept both the FASTEST and LARGEST team awards, and walked away with a 3 second PR of 17:16 (and 2nd female overall). Definitely finishing off 2018 with a bang! Super grateful for my in-laws, who took care of Riley all morning so Ian and I could have a fun morning with friends and all my Heartbreaker teammates for a great time (as always!) 💔🏆✨ ——————————————
Working on “getting comfortable being uncomfortable.” During her recent marathon buildup, @sarahall3 mentioned this, and it’s stuck with me. It would have been easy for me to resort to an easy 6 miles on the treadmill this morning (after a 4:45am wake up call, and coaching back to back studio classes), but instead, I challenged myself to the workout I had just taught (6am Deerfoot Dash). A progression hill climb, followed by minute-long tempo and sprints, and then repeat, totaling 45 minutes and 6 miles. The hardest part? Motivating myself to do this workout ALONE on the tread. At times I was definitely uncomfortable and ended up as a sweaty mess, but it was so worth it. Walked out of there feeling 💯 and all before 9am!

Wet and cold morning for the @cambridgeclassic5k, but fun nonetheless! Ran away with 1st Female Overall, 17:53 (and an untied shoe lace for 2.5 of 3.1 miles), and @annealiseb crushed her for 5K in 20:48! In our house, we’ve started a new tradition with Riley, it’s called @reindeerinhere. He’s got his own personal #ChristmasFriend reindeer (we’ve named him Rudy!) who watches over him for the month of December and reports back to 🎅🏼! The best part though? This cute book which teaches children the valuable lesson of #DifferentIsNormal . Christmas countdown: 28 DAYS! ⛄️ #ad

Ok, full disclosure. I’m a big Christmas fan. Last year we had a huge tree which took up half our living room, and though it was beautiful, it was SO. MUCH. WORK. This year, since Riley is into pulling, ripping, destroying, and throwing, it seems like the right call to buy a small tree to go on top of our table! Next year, hopefully we will be able to reason with him to leave the pretty ornaments on the tree and “just look, don’t touch!” 😂 #merrychristmas
Before a marathon training cycle, I like to check in with myself, decide on my A-goal, and map out how I’m going to get there. Still undecided on which marathon I’m going to run, but my initial thoughts:
- I will incorporate more stretching, core work and foam rolling.
- Strength training 1-2x a week
- I will meet friends/teammates for a workout at least once a week
- I will race at least once a month in preparation for the marathon
- I will, for the first time, run in the elite women’s field
- I WILL run sub-2:40 🌟💪🏼✨
