Today marked one of the most difficult and fulfilling events I’ve done in my life... 31 mile paddle from Catalina to Newport Beach to celebrate the life of @newportbeachlifeguard Ben Carlson, who passed away in the line of duty on a rescue, four years ago... Its amazing to see the community come together in support of such an amazing organization like the @bencarlson_foundation that educates the public on open water safety, and I’ve never been more proud to be a part of it and a member of the Newport Beach Lifeguard family... #BenDidGo
Erica and I share a #ContaxT2 that we always take on all of our trips. We try to get a couple shots along the way, in between the digital photos... Then process the roll whenever we reach the end, and it’s always a ton of fun to see the end result of photos neither of us remember taking... #35mm
Ben Carlson was a Newport Beach Lifeguard who passed away on July 6 of 2014 while saving the life of another in massive surf off the shores of Newport Beach. The Ben Carlson Foundation was set up in his honor to give scholarships to lifeguards and to educate today's youth on the dangers of the ocean.
The #BendidGO was an event created to raise funds for the Ben Carlson Foundation and to embrace the athletic and heroic spirit that Ben embodied. This year, we will be paddling from Avalon, Catalina to Newport Beach Pier. All proceeds will go to the Ben Carlson Foundation... link in bio... @newportbeachlifeguard
