Those of you who saw my stories will know I did my first ever 10K this past weekend with Stef (@mandorlayoga). Some thoughts:
-I did the race because it scared me and it was a wonderful reminder that often when we do the things we are afraid of, there isn't anything actually there to be scared of
-Training brought up a lot more then I thought it would - physically and emotionally
-I am so grateful for many people who supported me to be successful
-I also wanted to do the race because I think it is important for people to see bodies like mine doing athletic things
-I was so excited to see how many different bodies showed up for this run - my assumptions had been wrong
-I am still shoulding on myself about my time (as in: “it should have been faster”) and it is amazing how much joy that robs
Overall I am so amazed at how vulnerable the process of training and doing this race was and I am so grateful I did it.

I am experimenting with using the ideas of the slow food movement in other areas of my life: taking the time to go slow, choosing great quality (like these lucious @yycgrowers mushrooms 😍), and focusing on pleasure and community. Preliminary results are startlingly lovely 😊
