I figured out why I admire remote island destinations.
A long time ago, people landed on their shores and against incredibly adverse odds, and probably out of necessity, settled there. Limited resources gave way to ingenuity and purpose. Island folk have a resolve and an appreciation of life that is different than people from the mainland. Reminders of the power and beauty of nature are at every corner.
