Our #ConchasYCaféZine participants at the @baldwinhillslibrary had great writing & insights to share today regarding the #poetics of manifestos & their desire to rep our community. Join us on Mondays at 1pm to be part of sharing YOUR voice too! Or join us right now at the @VernonLAPL Branch Library, where we’ll be every Monday evening at 6pm! Tuesdays you can find us at the #EastLALibrary (@lacountylibrary). ✏️✊🏾
NEW ZINE 🌎 “EFRIN EVERYWHERE” 🌏 DM FOR FREE PDF 🌎 ... This took us 6months / 3years to write depending on how u look at it. Is literature dead ? Is poetry dead ? What are the questions we SHOULD be asking instead of these ones ? What does the death of poetry (in its past forms) mean for us ? Suck squirt and cry, abolishing each paltry question mark with a finger fucked exclamation !!!!! Totemic ! Collapsing ! Bin Laden had a vision of the CANON ! Get Unkle Benny on the phone ! Fuck ur melancholia, fuck literature, long live PDFs, poetry and the diverse practices of reading AGAINST the grain that so many hearts long + have + will to create, remember, resurrect 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥physical copies are for sale, choose-ur-own-price 🌻

So pumped that we’re on year 4 of this. I wasn’t sure how it would go over here, but the event gets bigger and better every year. Almost ready to announce the start of funding for the Johnson City Zine MOBILE so we can keep the fun going all year long! Stay tuned!! #zine#festival#zinemobile#downtownjctn#tennessee
What has surprised you the most about making music?
Probably how much stuff I throw away. I never thought I would be the kind of person who would write an entire record and then not use any of the songs because they were garbage. I always thought "well I wrote these songs so I'm going to put them out at least" but that's not the case. I've come to realize that I would rather have five records in my lifetime that were the absolute best I could do that I was proud of than have forty records that I did every year just to keep paying bills. It's also surprising how hard it is to get what you want out of a song but also how easy it is when the right song comes along. Some of the best songs that people have responded to and that I've enjoyed playing are ones that I wrote at eight AM in ten minutes. You hear that a lot from musicians, that “if it's not worth writing in 10-15 minutes it’s probably not worth writing."
