My little cousin’s graduation ceremony just moved me when they played a clip of Dr Martin Luther King Jr’s “What is Your Life’s Blueprint” speech, encouraging the kids to have a deep belief in their own dignity, self and somebodiness. Couldn’t help but tear. So beautiful!!!
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds! Have no fear for atomic energy. Cause none of them can stop the time. How long shall they kill our prophets. While we stand aside and look? Some say it's just a part of it

Last day of Kindergarten for @cutebabyjohn. We had a really tough adjustment this year and learned some hard lessons on being an advocate for his education. Just because the school is “selective” doesn’t mean it’s a better choice or better for you. We are so proud of everything he has accomplished this year...he’s at a second grade reading level and beginning second grade math. Regardless of those things, our goal is to raise a happy, responsible and creative kid. We are super excited that he will be attending another school next year and hope 🤞🏾his educational AND social needs are met. We will continue to do our part as involved parents and challenge educators to their part as well. 😎💙📚#proudmama#proudparents#byekindergarten#offtofirstgrade#younggiftedandblack#lastdayofschool#lastdayofkindergarten#schoolsoutforsummer
They say the apple 🍎 don’t fall too far from the tree. We are the trees of the youth and their conditions are the fruit that we bear. Compassion is knowing that a lot of what we see of them are cries for the love, attention and affection that we failed them because of what was handed down to us. It’s always a reason we are the way that we are... everything has a root. How about we judge less and touch them more with our love. As women we have a special connection and a vested interest in them because they come through us. Some have never heard the words “ I love you, you matter, you are appreciated” Some were born through dysfunctional situations trying to figure life out on their own. Let’s reach out in any way that we can if we see a troubled youth because you never know what your love is capable of. ~ Akim ・・・
